Am feeling mopey and antisocial. Haven't even gotten in to uni this week and it's supposed to be my first week back because yesterday I was ill and today I still felt queasy. I risked getting in the car but I was nauseous by the end of the street. Still have a headache, but not so ill now. I HAVE TO BE BETTER TOMORROW.
Bah.
I've now watched every episode of Firefly and every deleted scene and extra on the DVDs, and plan to start on the commentaries on the weekend.
Having considered carefully, I'm starting to think that Firefly is probably one of the best television programs I've ever had the privelege of watching. I'd go so far as to say better than Buffy or Angel, in fact, because of the artistic risks it took. The fact that it was cancelled just goes to show how far down the tube television has gone (with obvious exceptions *cough*Lost*cough*.) I look forward to seeing Serenity again with all the context in mind. I might even start a campaign to get everybody I know watching it.
The characters are rich and interesting, as is the world that's been created in the show; as always with Joss's shows, he's completely invested in this world before the show began. It has history, texture, grittiness. The writing is of course top-notch, and there's not a single member of the cast who isn't spot on all the time. Plus Mal is sexy, Simon is pretty and Kaylee is awesome.

1. i finished the book on sunday, since i wanted to "savor" it (haha yeah right) as long as possible (two days). so i had to ignore! all of your posts about it until i was done.
2. did the whole lake bit with hp and dumbledore remind you of the creepy lake in "fellowship of the ring," cuz it did me, very strongly (the can't touch the water part, etc.).
3. i soooooooo do not want snape to be evil!!!! i for one am with you, dumbledore must have had his reasons.
4. also, hp telling ginny that they had to break up for her safety reminded me of spiderman (eek!), and ginny even has red hair like mary jane! i couldn't really take that part seriously.
well, my two cents, sorry to ramble.
