So Adebisi is going to be on Lost.
Adebisi is probably one of my favourite character names ever. It sounds so cool when you yell it.
I scored Dom on
abc_icons, so there should be a nice large Dom icon post in the not-too-distant future.
I watched The Greater Good again tonight and it had some fasciniting, insightful and horrendously sad things to say about terrorism in the current climate. I really think that politicians would do well to watch this sort of program.
I recently got into a very heated debate at the Bronze about racial profiling and terrorism and what it does to people. Someone on there was completely scathing, saying that racial profiling was a necessity, we shouldn't worry about upsetting anybody's delicate sensibilities, anyone who sympathised with terrorists should be locked up. It almost made me physically ill. He also suggested that I was a weak-minded hippy if I didn't agree with him and said anyone who sympathised with murderers and terrorists should be locked up in Guantanemo Bay. Which means I should be arrested. Lovely.
Putting aside for a moment my complete disgust for what he called "Gitmo", this episode of Lost showed precisely why not having sympathy for terrorists (and Muslims) at this point in time is costing us so dearly. A man who lost his wife because of the war, who was essentially in the terrorist cell because he had no other choice, who didn't want to hurt people, was convinced to commit a terrible crime. Sayid, a man of strong moral convictions, was the one who convinced him to do it, because the CIA and the Australian government coerced him into it by threatening a woman who was essentially on their side in Iraq. The whole episode so clearly denounced terrorism and the dirty tactics in fighting it, and how perfectly good people (Sayid more so than Hassan) are dragged into the whole mess just because of their nationality. And if you don't sympathise with Hassan, well, I'm scared for the world.
Also? Hassan was hot. Hassan kissing Sayid was hot.
I'm just sayin'.
Song: Mal's Song by Escape Key
Have I recced this yet? It's a longer version of the Firefly theme (made up, I assume, by the band) sung by a woman at what was probably a convention. It's utterly beautiful.

peter_and_fran has updated. I love edamame and Dom the firecracker.
ETA: Ha! Also, today I said "Syphilis is more hip than Tom Cruise right now," and made myself laugh. I am teh dweeb.
frozenwithin posted hot Jared Leto pics, including some extremely slashy one with Nic Cage from the movie they're doing together.
I present you with an icon meme instead of pics. Sorry.

_chocobox, one of my favourite icon makers. I downloaded it ages ago, but it just kept gnawing away at the back of my mind, so I finally had to upload it. I haven't looked back since.

My thought exactly - especially since i've watched the new trailer: thanks for the link, btw!

I admire your determination, attempting to reason/debate with Neanderthal Boy. I've been having the same argument for so long that I think I've lost the energy to attempt it anymore (online, that is). Which is shameful, but there you go.
Also? Hassan was hot. Hassan kissing Sayid was hot.
*nods furiously*
Amen, sister.

The thing is he's not a neanderthal boy - that's what's so scary. If he was just an idiot it'd be okay, but he's educated. Bastard.
Yeah, she makes fab icons.

I apply the term "neanderthal" to anyone whose bellowing puts them a few millenia behind the rest of us. Education's only what you make of it, I think, and he doesn't get any bonus points from me for being able to spell "xenophobia" correctly. *picks up random objects and throws them at him*
*pets lovely
I've got a bunch more of hers that I'm going to try to work in when I re-haul my icons. I hate having to get rid of old icons that I love to make room for new ones I love! *growls at LJ and their stupid 50 icon limit*
