I wanted to say something about the movie Fever Pitch, which I watched 4 times on the way to and from Nagoya.

I'm not a romantic comedy girl, I don't know if you'd noticed. Generally I dislike romantic-anything movies (I am the only person I know who didn't care for The Notebook all that much.) However, watching this movie was kind of like looking into the mirror and seeing Jimmy Fallon as a baseball fan looking back at me.

Fever Pitch is based on a book by the author of About a Boy, and it stars Jimmy Fallon (who is so gorgeous, by the way, and I want one of my own) and Drew Barrymore (once again, beautiful in this.) They changed the game from football (the soccer kind) to baseball and the setting from Britain to America, but it still has that wonderfully understated British feel to it. I swear, it's basically a survival guide for anyone who wants to live with a fan - and it does it all really affectionately. It also makes an important distinction: fans are obsessive, but we still put the real people in our lives first. It's so charming and lovely. I really suggest everybody go see it if it gets released (I assume it isn't in wide release yet, but I don't know - I think the London premiere was only a few days ago.)

OMG! Loudon Wainwright III - Rufus and Martha's daddy - is going to be in Elizabethtown. Have I mentioned I love this film already? And I'm reading the script (the glorious [livejournal.com profile] truffle_shuffle sent it to me) and it's fanTAStic.
Except for this: "it's" is an abbreviation of "it is", "its" means "belonging to it"; and
"Better THAN", not "better THEN." And that applies for any similar situation. "Funnier than," "happier than," "prettier than."
And I have to mention the song from the trailers, "My Father's Gun" by Elton John, again, because I really can't stop listening to it.

Song of the Day: I Melt With You by Jason Mraz

I love this weird geek rock stuff, it's adorable.

Link of the Day: One of the authors of [livejournal.com profile] shoebox_project, the ridiculously talented [livejournal.com profile] dorkorific, wrote a manifesto in response to one moment of their fanon being sunk by an interview with JKR. She is brilliant.
If you don't get the joke, you're a bloody idiot. THIS IS WHAT SANE FANDOM LOOKS LIKE.

I really need this:

without the watermark. Hires would be great. Hires of that entire evening would be rewarded with a picspam/icon of the giver's choice.
Anyone?

Too cute for words.

Please don't take this as rejection

They do have green eyes, I remember Sean's from when I met him. They're both so gorgeous.

I didn't like the Notebook, either. I found it dull, actually. I did, however, enjoy Fever Pitch, even though I'm not a fan of the male lead, whatever his name is.

Jason Mraz is amazing. He's awesome in that full-of-himself but cute kind of way...only boys can do that.

Cheers!

Jimmy Fallon. He's an SNL almunus, and a comedian. I like him :) I think he's cute. And thank the gods somebody else didn't like that movie! I thought I was the only one.

LOL he's amusing. Reminds me of Seth Cohen.

Hello! I snagged the Jason Mraz song. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I have that pic of Dom untagged at home. If no one else finds it for you, I'll take a look when I get home tonight.

No worries!

That would be terrific, thankyou!! I want to use it for [livejournal.com profile] abc_icons.

Fever Pitch came out here months ago, and I think my friend Kim and I were the only people in all the country that saw it (me being a huge fan of Drew and Jimmy and Drewandjimmy and anything Nick Hornby related; Kim being possibly the biggest female Red Sox fan alive). I absolutely loved it. I thought it was cute but not cutesy, sweet but not saccharine, romantic but not gag-worthy, and really, really funny. I can't wait until it comes out on DVD because I have to own it.

I also want a Jimmy Fallon of my own. He used to be my #1, top of my list guy. I think he's beautiful and quirky and has probably the best smile ever.

Now I must read what [livejournal.com profile] dorkorific wrote. I have a feeling I know what part of fanon was blown for her before I even start...

(Glad you're enjoying the script, btw)

Did it? Well, it's a shame nobody else saw it. I suppose it wasn't big enough to get noticed? Far too subtle for American tastes?

Jimmy Fallon is awesome. I'd never seen him acting before but I'd noticed him in some other things - award shows and a couple comedy things I caught bits of. I like him a lot.

I finished the script. Damn, that's a good movie.

I don't know why people didn't go see it. I know a lot of Bostonians did (of course), but not too many others. I really liked it though. It gave me the warm and fuzzies.

I used to force my friends to watch SNL every Saturday because of Jimmy - but then it wasn't too difficult to convince them considering we all loved Will Ferrell and Tracy Morgan and Horatio, Tina, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph...the entire cast, really. *Sigh* Back when the cast was perfect. It was really lacking something this year with Jimmy and Will gone. And the next season is going to be really strange because Tina Fey and Maya Rudolph are both having babies, and Tina's the head writer.

I'm glad you liked the script. I got sorta teary at the end. I can't wait to see how it's all filmed and put together. Judging from the trailer, it's going to be absolutely perfect.

I concur with your rec of Fever Pitch. I saw it at the theater with my hubby -- who is NOT a romantic comedy goer AT ALL. It took some convincing and making him watch the previews (which showed a lot of baseball) before I got him to agree to go with me.

He loved it. And he didn't even mind my squeeing over the adorable Jimmy Fallon either ;)

Yeah, it's kind of the romantic comedy for people who don't like romantic comedies, isn't it? And the humour is clever, the writing is clever. I was surprised to see how good Jimmy Fallon was at sort of underplaying it, because he's an SNL boy and they tend to overdo things. I thought it was fantastic.

Has he got an iPod mini? Pft. Minis are like, SO yesterday. 30 or 60G photos are the new thing (*is only saying this as she is getting an iPod photo 30G for her birthday on Friday*).

Yeah, I love Jason Mraz too! One of my best friends met him when she was in America. She went to this huge three-day concert thing in San Fransisco at this huge gorge thing... kinda like Falls Festival. And she'd met him at a smaller gig a couple nights before in the city, and ended up camping with him and his band! So groovey.
I like 'Geek in the Pink'. Not a fan of I Melt With You.

I don't even know if it's his to tell you the truth.

I have a 20 gig by the name of Hedwig.

Oh that's cool :) I haven't heard Geek in the Pink.

Speaking of the Wainwrights, Martha is coming to Canberra on the 6th September to perform at Tilley's in Lyneham, if you're interested.
