Kate (Rescue Me): Nancy Sinatra!! Kate is so beautiful, and she's an awesome singer. I loved that performance, it made me smile, which is always a good sign.
ETA: Just one issue. Why does she not ennunciate sometimes? During her t0- 30 performance it was "someone", this time it was "I'm lonely." She made them "su-un" and "aaaaonly." It's weird, and it bothers me.
Natalie (Dancing in the Street): Wow. Natalie's performance was really, really boring and uninspiring. It was the same thing as last week...but worse. I dislike her. I think she actually did worse than David Bowie and Mick Jagger. At least they were funny.
Dan England (Unchained Melody): Y'know, I used to love Dan, but when he said teached instead of taught and I just liked him. Yes, I am going to mark him down on grammar. Of course I had to immediately mark him back up for that absolutely astonishingly good performance. He has easily the best voice in the contest, and I love his face. I've never heard that song performed straight up without all the fiddly bits but he made it sound really, really nice. I reckon he could win this, and I don't think I'd complain one bit. He's a cutie.
Anne (When Something is Wrong With My Baby): Anne is pretty too, but I never really feel her. I don't think that first look in the cute video segment worked for her but the others did, especially the last one with the umbrella. Too cute.
James (Hold On, I'm Coming): James's video segment was probably the cutest one of the lot. James Kannis Bond! He did actually look good doing that. It was nice to see him all confident and not looking like he was about to throw up! I love it when he's confident, because he's such a sweetheart.
Emily (Respect): Emily was great, finally a song that actually suits her voice properly. I think this will end up being her best performance - usually I just feel like she's yelling at me. Also, she has really high shoulders. She looked great as Dionne Warwick.
Roxane (You Can't Hurry Love): I will always love Roxane best of the girls, she's so sweet, but I agree with martha - that song sounded really breathless. She looked good though, especially as Emma Peel.
Dan Spillane (I Feel Good): Okay, if Dan Spillane survives this week it will be through sheer luck. That was awful. I loved James's comment about show business - "'What did you guys think?' What else are they gonna say?" He's awesome, he says these things with that blank smile so people don't know how nasty he's being. That said, Mark was all "oh, I have to be careful" and then he was a total bastard. At least James is sweet about it.
Laura (Don't Play That Song For Me): I hate Laura. She's boring, she can't move, and I agree with Marcia - the whole smiling while singing "you lied" thing was creepy as all get out. Every other girl in this competition is more interesting than her. And what was with that "this is how women should dress" comment? Women should dress however the fuck they want. Get out of my face.
I love how nobody reacted to her trying to get the audience involved.
Lee (I'm a Believer): I loved Lee as Austin Powers, and the mini!Lee! Far too cute. Although, okay, he's no John Lennon OR Frank Sinatra. But then really, it's not like any of the others in this competition could match up to the people they were dressing up as. Plus Lee as Sinatra took me to a very happy place - I'm such an old jazz fan and I love Lee. I thought he did a great performance. I agree with Kyle - he's not as strong vocally as the others in the contest, so he has to rely on his personality and performance to get him through, and I thought he did a great job. And did I mention I love Lee? He's getting a lot less love on the
australianidol community but I love him. He's so cute.
Milly (Do You Love Me): Milly was great, but I just felt like she was...standing around a lot when she should've been singing or moving or something. I dunno, it felt strange to me. Much better than last week though.
I love that James Matheson's earpiece "the lines are now open" gag still makes Andrew G laugh every time. Also, when James said "Do you love me?" and Andrew nodded at him? Then again, James and James keep looking like they'll be announcing their engagement any day now.
I hope Laura goes this week but I have a feeling it'll be bye-bye Dan. Which would suck, because the last thing we need is to lose MORE boys so early in the contest. Get rid of some of the girls already. Bah.
Look, I have an Idol icon! *points* that's Dan England.
