Kate (Not That Kind) - Wow, this was sensational, I loved it. I thought she looked great and put in a really good performance. Love her voice.

James (Love the One You're With) - I think this is the best James performance we've had yet. I think he started out really, really well, but lost it a little towards the end. Still for at least half the song I finally felt like he was giving everything he could and wasn't going to sneak off and throw up afterwards. Sad lack of James/James lovin' after the song, but made up for in spades by all the James/Andrew G love tonight.

Speaking of, how DIRTY is James tonight? His comments about everybody being stiff on stage and lifting their performances had G giggling madly at the beginning of the show. Andrew G was so thrown off tonight and James was on the top of his game. They're hilarious.

Roxane (The Voice Within) - eh, it was fine, but boring. I hated that dress a lot. I really like Roxane but I'm not a fan of the big power ballads (which will also explain my reaction to Emily's performance very, very soon.)

Lee (Holiday) - Whatever you think about Lee, that audience LOVES him and he's a serious performer. That said, I'm torn on the issue of him knowing what the song's about. Really, if he wasn't into the political message of the song, there's a bunch of other Green Day songs he could have picked that don't have a political message (and the fact that he doesn't have an opinion on Dubya pisses me off because Dubya's fucking *evil*.) Still, it's Australian Idol. Last week Emily sang Bohemian Rhapsody and everybody just fell all over themselves loving it, when she obviously didn't have any connection to what the song was all about. And like I said, Lee's performance skills aren't matched by anyone else in the competition.

Emily (Hero) - I hate this song. I thought she did fine vocally but I was so, so bored because I hate that song. And I agree with Kyle about her walking out looking like a real estate agent, that outfit was just terrible.

Daniel (If I Could) - That sucked. Really, really badly. He has a good voice when he uses it properly, but he didn't, and that was just terrible. He looked boring and he sang badly. Definitely the worst performance of the night...

Milly (Sunday Morning) - ...followed very closely by this train wreck. Looks to me like Milly was trying to become the new mini-Lee. Did anyone else think that when she walked out with the pink hair and torn jeans and then proceeded to jump around on stage like a pogo stick? Milly has such a great voice and yet Lee always performs so much better than she did tonight. Awful.

Dan (Only to Be With You) - I completely and utterly loved this, though. I did think he could've sung a chorus, but his parts were so beautiful that it didn't bother me for long. I thought he looked really good without the hat and I just LOVE his voice. I know I'm biased, but I thought this was great.

Anne (Independant Woman) - as something of a closet Destiny's Child fan I agree 100% with Kyle - Anne completely pulled off Beyonce. She was really pretty and she sang and moved very nicely, I liked this a lot. I loved her dress and her hair. I'm starting to think that we're going to have Anne and Dan as our last 2 this year. I think Anne's a lot more accessible than Emily, but maybe that's just me.

TOP THREE: Dan, Anne and Kate, but Lee did a good job too.
BOTTOM THREE: Dan, Milly and probably James again
OUT: I wish it was Milly but I'm going to say Dan. I HOPE it's not James. I like the boy, what can I say.

That man needs to have the microphone stand in his ass removed. Seriously. He gave Casey what, three touchdowns last year, and I'm still not convinced she deserved two of them. Personally I think this year has a lot more talent and range than last year's finalists, but that's neither here nor there, because Mark Holden is just being a total *bitch* about everything that's going on this year. I think Dicko leaving has gone to his head and he seems to think he's like the boss judge now. Marcia, the ultimate fence-sitter, has become the only reliable judge and she just smacks Holden *down* now, which is making me very happy, because somebody has to do it (and let's face it, Marcia's a hell of a lot more mature than Kyle Sandilands.) There are some damn good voices in that group of singers and Mark Holden, who by the way has less talent probably than the entire group of them, needs to open his damn ears.
I wish Holden would leave for good and Dicko would come back to Ten. Just for the one show. I love Dicko and Mark Holden makes me want to BREAK THINGS.

I am loving Idol this year. I like the personalities of most of the people in the top 9, there's none that I really dislike anymore now that Laura's gone, and I am LOVING the hosts this year (which is good since the judges kinda suck.)

Every single year we get people in the fandom going "This year sucks SO much more than last year, there was SO much more talent last year" and nobody seems to actually remember last year, when there was an equally large number of people complaining that it sucked that year. I think we need to take a step back and get some perspective - things don't change that much. There's always a couple of people who can't sing, there's always a couple of shock eliminations that shouldn't happen, there's always that one performer who grates on you. That's part of the show.

1. Dan
2. Anne
3. Kate
4. Emily
5. Lee (though if one of the two girls above bombs one show he could finish fourth)
6. Roxane

The last three depend on who goes out tomorrow night - it's a toss-up between James (just for being mediocre a few weeks in a row), Milly (for sucking dreadfully tonight) or Daniel (for sucking dreadfully tonight and 2 weeks ago.) But I'm betting on them to be the next three to go.

Ranty McRantyson out.

OMG Mark is a total nimrod. I can't believe he did that - what a totally ridiculous and inane thing to do. Normally I don't mind his temper, because I often agree with his verdicts. But tonight he was obviously in a pissy mood and just wanted to rant and rave no matter what the Idols did. And to walk out on a performer?? That's just so unprofessional. You're an arse, Mark.
And Kyle pisses me off as well - I know it's probably in his contract to 'spice' things up a little, but he's such an egotist that all he wants is all eyes on him, and any attempts to reason with him or *gasp* disagree with him and he just dials up the rhetoric so that he's no longer making any sense and just sounds like a nasty bastard.
Which leaves us with Marcia being the voice of reason. And previously I would have said God help us to that, but she's actually being a little more honest this season, which is reassuring.
PLZ LET THEM BRING BACK DICKO!!
Thanks for your post, I've just finished watching and the need to vent was kinda overwhelming...:)

I was just watching Dude, Where's My Car on TV.

My issue with Kyle remains that he has nothing useful to contribute. Basically he has two criticisms:
-you look bad
-that performance was boring
other than that, he has absolutely nothing to say. I think that Marcia has really grown a backbone this year and she's about the only one who has a reasonable opinion of what's going on. Also, she never leaves a contestant feeling the way Mark left Anne feeling.

I just got back from five months in Canadia last week, and I haven;t managed to catch any of Aussie Idol... I'll have to play catch up methinks.
