Since Big Band Night on Australian Idol on Sunday (you can download the songs those guys performed here so I'm not going to upload them), I've been listening to big band music all week. I decided to share with you guys. All the links are YouSendIt.

You Don't Know Me - Michael Buble
I've had this on party shuffle for two weeks nonstop. It's originally a Ray Charles song and it's sad and fantastic. Don't you just love Michael Buble? Actually, I didn't until I saw him on Las Vegas and he cracked me up, but now I do!

Sway - Michael Buble
One of Buble's more famous songs, and a really good song to dance to, obviously.

The Lady Is a Tramp - Ella Fitzgerald
By far the best Ella Fitzgerald song in my opinion, which is saying something because Ella is absolutely the queen of swing/jazz/big band music. It's fun and uplifting.

Fever - Ella Fitzgerald
I have 5 or 6 versions of this song on iTunes, but Ella's always the best. It's probably the sexiest song in history.

I Won't Dance - Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong
Probably my favourite song right now. These two were such great performers with great voices and a lovely chemistry between them, and all their duets just sparkle. It's a really, really cute song.

La Vie En Rose - Louis Armstrong
Why this lot persisted in singing in French with fairly bad accents I'll never know, but this song is a complete classic. Great tune, and I've loved Louis Armstrong's music since I was a baby.

There Ain't No Sweet Man That's Worth the Salt of My Tears - Martha Wainwright
This is obviously a more recent one. I love all the Wainwrights, and this was the first song I heard by Martha. Her voice is perfectly suited for this kind of music.

I'll Be Seeing You - Martha Wainwright
She sang this one for The Aviator, and it's just incredible. The first part is a lovely instrumental and then Martha's voice kicks in and it completely won me over. Although I have a terrible time trying to sing it myself in the car.

Minnie the Moocher - Cab Calloway
This is really a novelty song and I'm not entirely convinced by the lyrics, but it's the best audience participation/scatting song you'll hear. Anne covered it on Australian Idol.

I Get a Kick Out of You - Frank Sinatra
Okay, I admit it, I like this song mostly for the line about cocaine, which is so strange in the context of the song. It's still an awesome song that's been covered a hell of a lot, though. I love these love songs that have a bit of a sting to them. Also, this one reminds me of Some Like It Hot when Tony Curtis is seducing Marilyn Monroe.

Me & My Shadow - Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr.
This has been one of my favourite songs since the first time I heard it (it was on [livejournal.com profile] _jamjar's Lord of the Rings RPS soundtrack, so it reminds me of Dom and Billy, which is nice as well.) It is probably the cutest song you will ever hear.

Why Don't You Do Right - Sinead O'Connor
This is the Jessia Rabbit song! Unfortunately I don't have the Jessica Rabbit version, so you'll have to put up with this, but it's sultry and smokey and beautiful.

My Funny Valentine - Harry Connick Jr.
I have 15 versions of this song on my iTunes. The only reason I picked this one is because it's the only Harry Connick Jr. song I have and I felt like I should include him. This is probably my favourite love song ever, and I know it's slow, but just *listen* to it.

At Last - Etta James
Everybody loves this song. Or at the very least, everybody knows it. It's one of the all-time classic love songs.

Straighten Up & Fly Right - Robbie Williams
This song is so quirky and fun, but it does get a wee bit repetitive, having only a chorus and the one verse. Still, it's a fun little song. Lee performed it on Big Band night.

La Mer - Charles Trenet
You know, Beyond the Sea. But in French. And if you're a Lost fan, here, have Maggie Grace's version. Because not only is she incredibly beautiful, she can also sing.

Please do download these, it took my all afternoon to upload them and they really are glorious songs.

Swing/big band has always been one of my favorite kinds of music. "Sing Sing Sing" is in my top 3 fav songs, as a matter of fact...

Nice selection you've got here!

*facepalm* I knew I'd forgotten something - I forgot to include instrumentals! Oh well.

Me too! If I uploaded any you don't have, please take them - otherwise I feel like I've done a lot of work for nothing. *bats eyes*

I've got 'sing sing sing' with me... I can upload it for you after my class if you'd like and then you can post that as well.

I'm totally going to snag them! But first, my lit class... *waves*

Oh no, that's okay, I have it, I just forgot to upload it - and I've already posted this in a community, so I don't want to change it. Thanks for the offer though.

Oh, I am so excited to go home and download these! Thank you!

I have the version of My Funny Valentine from...can't remember the title now, damn! The one by Matt Damon. Very soothing soundtrack ;) Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't have been born in the 20's or something.

I hope you enjoy them!

I have that one. It's from The Talented Mr. Ripley. Have you seen the movie? It's creepy as all get out. I collect My Funny Valentine covers.

That's the name of it! Yup...I have it on tape for some reason. It's a very aesteticly (sp?)pleasing film.

Love your taste in everything! And Dom...I've got that just-saw-a-Dom-interview high!

Hi Greenie! *waves*

I canme back to download these songs and I suddenly remembered- I though of you today while I was at school.

I was walking to class and suddenly there's this guy who looked exactly like Rufus Wainwright (except a bit younger)! I thought of you because of all you Wainwright love... It was so weird. Nearly did a double take. And seriously, I thought "What the heck is Rufus doing at KVCC (my school)?"

Yay Michael Buble. I actually stumbled here because I was looking for Maggie Grace's version of La Mer, and I was wondering if you'd be able to repost it?
