I have an online store?

David & Margaret reviewed Elizabethtown tonight. They said it wasn't Cameron Crowe's best film but it was still really nice. David didn't mind Orli, but Margaret didn't like him much.

I started this entry at midnight. It's now 3:30 am. In the meantime I went and had Baileys & milk while I watched the Rebecca DVD that I rented last week that's due back tomorrow. It's a Hitchcock movie, with Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier. Apparently Hitchcock told Fontaine on set that everybody hated her so he could get the performance he wanted. It was really good, a little unintentionally disturbing - but then I'm starting to find most of Hitchcock's films that way.

Here's some Rufus Wainwright songs for you:
Instant Pleasure
Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk
Keep Cool Fool
Paper Moon

Don't forgot to guess the songs!

That Rebecca movie was based on the book "Rebecca" by Daphne Du Maurier -- which is FANTASTIC. One of my favorite books of all time. I thought Hitchcock did a good job of capturing the mystery, while giving you that slightly creeped out feeling while watching.

Yeah I know, it's for my Modern Novel Into Film course. I plan to read the novel next week. Apparently she's a total pushover in the book though, the feminist in my class was most perturbed bout her.

I only have 2 non-snaggable icons, and one of them has my name printed all over it. This is the other. So yes, it was up for grabs :)

Wow, I didn't know that! That's actually pretty weird, but I think it worked. Having read Jane Eyre a million times, I already pretty much knew what was going to happen, but it was still sufficiently creepy and suspenseful. Laurence Olivier is always a nice bonus, too (and the real reason I watched the movie in the first place).

...Jane Eyre? I suppose there are some similarities...

Laurence Olivier = hot, but he was the reason Hitchcock told everyone that - Olivier already hated Fontaine because he wanted Vivien Leigh to play the lead.

The first thing I ever remember hearing about Rebecca was that it was essentially a modern reworking of Jane Eyre. After watching the movie (I've never actually read the book), I can see why a lot of people say that, but I can also understand why a lot of people resent the label. In terms of plot the two are extremely similiar, but I think the tone of the stories and especially the female leads are different enough to completely change the effect of the story. At any rate, I just meant that the actual events were close enough that the plot twists were not all that surprising.

Olivier already hated Fontaine because he wanted Vivien Leigh to play the lead.

And there you have just about every Laurence Olivier moive in a nutshell. In some cases, though, I think he was right. Everytime I watch Wuthering Heights, I can't help but think how fantastic it would be if Vivien Leigh was playing Cathy. Merle Oberon was great, and obviously I can't even imagine Vivien not starring in Gone with the Wind, but I think a Leigh/Olivier version of Wuthering Heights would have been perfect.

Mmmmm. I had Baileys in hot chocolate last night! :) Fall is a great excuse to do things like that. Stealing the Rufus songs, except the first which I already have.

I had it because I was cold and I was going to be watching the movie anyway. It made my viewing experience very pleasant :) I hope you like them!

Also, your icon = perfect.

Glad you like the store GQ. I was surprized when that came up in the google search where you hit the "I Feel Lucky" button. If you type in green_queen it just pulls up your LJ. So you are pretty darn popular I guess.
