I do not fucking *get* [livejournal.com profile] ohnotheydidnt.

The community has about a million posts about celebrities and 'celebrities' a day and NOBODY has anything to say. The comments are 'omgsohot' or 'fugly' or 'eww.' Why bother? It's rife with nasty, bitchy, idiotic human beings.

No offence to anyone I know who frequents there, I didn't see any of your names in the thread I'm talking about.

Some people can only validate themselves by cutting down other people - especially those with any kind of fame. Because we all know, of course, that WE are so much more deserving of fame than those that have achieved it.

I go there ever now and again and only post on maybe one - two entries top at any given time. The community has tons of fights and it's almost always over the same celebrities. It gets old after awhile yet they just keep on doing it.

I fully understand where you are coming from with this. I posted some banners from HP awhile back and got a bunch of comments about how the kids are unattractive or HP sucks. If you don't like it, why post? You are purposely trying to start trouble. I only posted a few threads and I have no intention of doing it again since most of the kids over there have to be stupid.

I have it on my flist cause I like to keep up on celeb gossip. Also, they tend to post links to leaked cds and such so I always snag those.

But I stopped reading the comments about 10 minutes after I joined. It's not worth it.

I don't think I'd ever read the comments in that community and I don't think I will waste more of my life doing so again...just why??

I find that to be the case in a lot of communities, not just the celeb-focused ones. There are many I've joined with the promise of discussions on fascinating topics, but they eventually dwindle down to the comments you summarised above.

I check that community occasionally for the gossip only. I rarely comment and even more rarely read what people say. It's a whole contest on who can be the most vicious, and personally that's not my thing.

I read for gossip mostly and finding new pictures. I never comment. If people wanna fight with each other or say something idiotic like "fugly!" or "that's so gay!" so be it. I just ignore all that.

I HATE ONTD SO FUCKING MUCH.

All it causes is massive amounts of unnecessary drama when people get all, "OMGZ TEHY R LIEK SO GHEY I CNAT L0oK @ IT!@~!!~!!!"

Ugh. Stupid whores.

Its because the internet allows people to voice their opinion without having to be seen in person. They're hiding behind the safety of a computer screen. Because they feel insecure and jealous, they have to post rude things to make themselves feel better.

"Don't feed the trolls."

Thing that pissed me off was when someone called Cillian Murphy a pedophile. -_-
