A snake. On a plane. No, really.

I saw Galaxy Quest

I love this movie SO MUCH, because in my view it is essentially one big celebration of fandom. The beginning sets it up perfectly - the people who laugh at the show, the 'disbelievers' vs. the fans and the disillusioned crew - then it follows the crew and the alien 'fans' through a journey of self-discovery that basically just says illusion is fun and gives us hope and something to care about and fans are awesome, if kinda geeky. Yay us!

Of course, I've probably delved too deeply in what is essentially a very entertaining comedy/Star Trek spoof. Any other readings anyone would care to share with the class?

Plus, OMG ALIEN KEITH MARS FTW.

I also watched Bride & Prejudice again. I love Naveen in this movie SO MUCH. Absolutely nothing deep going on here, just beaufitul Indian people singing and dancing and having fun.

Question: Do I bother watching Murd3r By Numbers just for this?

[livejournal.com profile] truffle_shuffle did a more comprehensive post here, so I didn't forget Jake or Robert Pattinson or Sean Maher, they're just over there.

...well, I like it. It's wonky with small (now fixed!) teeth but it's so expressive. *g* His smile is my favourite, but Jake's is a VERY close second. Of course, nobody beats Dom ever in my books.

Shia LeBouef

Gael Garcia Bernal

Gale Harold

Adam Brody

([livejournal.com profile] indilime is gonna kill me for not having a kissy pic) WEEEEEEEVIL

Seth Green, who has the most unique and adorable smile

Aaron Stanford

Michael Pitt, with lips that are probably outlawed in Texas

Terrence Howard

Ryan Phillippe

James Dean

The Michael Pitt is another Aaron Stanford.

Murder By Numbers is definitely worth watching especially if you like Ryan Gosling too!

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Not that interested in Ryan Gosling. I don't mind Put Me in the Car, which is a song he did, though.

I'm really only interested in Michael Pitt. I cast him in this story I wrote ages ago and now I'm kind of attached to him.

Oh, and thanks for the heads-up - image should be fixed.

My mom printed out that snake on a plane article for me the other day, I completely forgot to mention it in my last post. Isn't that insane???!

Pretty boys men!

SHIA! FRANCIS! TERRENCE! HEEEEE!!!

I'll forgive you on the Weevil pic this time, because OMG the way he eyes Veronica in that scene kills me ded every time.

Also I effing LOVE Galaxy Quest. I really have no idea why I still don't own it, but I need it. Desperately. I love your interpretation of it. I never really thought of it that way before.

LOL I'm a film student, it's my job to overanalyse everything. The whole time I was watching it this time I was thinking about how fans were portrayed as a group and whether we were being mocked or poked gentle fun at.

That and the lines are SO FUNNY.
'I guess you're just going to have to figure it out. What's its motivation?'
'It's a rock monster, it doesn't HAVE any motivation!'
'This is your problem, Jason, you were never serious about the craft!'

'I'M NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO HAVE A LAST NAME!'

'That was a hell of a thing. What's wrong with them?'

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Also, I know I downloaded at least one picture of Weevil doing his kissy face but I can't find it. :(

I think you may have a mouth fetish too. Just look at the guys you like...

*g*

Galaxy Quest! Ah, I haven't seen that movie in forever. So much love for such a goofy movie.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

It's goofy but it's SO much fun, and it's just so...it must've been written by fans. It's like, 'we're all nerds but we're OMGSOCOOL anyway.'

And it's hilarious.

GALAXY QUEST!!! I will always be of the opinion that that's one of the funniest movies ever. My friend Sara and I quote it all the time.

I'll unlock my picspam since you're pimping it. :)

My favorite lines in the movie have got to be when they use the transporter thing on the alien pig.

"But the pig is inside out...(exploding pig guts)and it exploded."

The actor delivers it in such a deadpan manner I can't stop laughing every time1 :D

From: [identity profile] seren-mahtori.livejournal.com

lmfao! That's one of my favorite lines too! omg...I can't stop snickering now. GREAT!

From: [identity profile] seren-mahtori.livejournal.com

I totally LOVE Galaxy Quest. I have owned it for quite some time now on VHS. I need to upgrade it to DVD, but haven't gotten around to it.

My crush/boss shares all of my fandoms as well and we've been discussing your very interpretation of the movie over the past week. It came up when we were doing Inventory (cuz I work at a video store) and he was like, "This movie wins."

By Grapthar's hammer...I think I'm gonna go watch it now! lol.

This movie was also where I realized that I love Alan Rickman...when he snaps and goes all berzerk on the aliens. LOVE IT! Snape, despite the HP storyline...is still one of my favorites. lmao...what a change of character between Galaxy Quest and HP.

Wow...mouth obsession over here! Loved it!!!

GAEL GARCIA BERNAL ADAM BRODY yes. thank you. very very much. BUT WHERE IS JAKE!?

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

[livejournal.com profile] truffle_shuffle did a more comprehensive post here (http://truffle-shuffle.livejournal.com/372766.html), so I didn't forget Jake or Robert Pattinson or Sean Maher, they're just over there.

If you'd read that you would know EXACTLY where Jake is.

:p

From: [identity profile] ack-attack.livejournal.com

oh my god. i'm an idiot. the worst part is that i read that THREE times because i was like...jake? jake!? and i saw sean maher and pattison. total brain fart.

From: [identity profile] ack-attack.livejournal.com

that is very noble of you :D

after seeing this and [livejournal.com profile] indilime's picspam i decided i needed to do one. with eyes. and we all know who will be on that list.

From: [identity profile] lost-within.livejournal.com

I watched Murder by Numbers for Ryan Gosling so I suppose you could watch it for Michael Pitt;D

PS. That's a really good picture of Gael Garcia Bernal.

From: [identity profile] moonsenorita.livejournal.com

Yes, watch Murder By Numbers just for that. The movie is frustratingly evil, because there are a lot of moments like that and the entire time I'm thinking hurry up and make it NC-17 already and ride that ass all night long. But, that doesn't happen.

Oh, I'm from Texas, and those lips? Well, they are outlawed. ;D (I'm here by way of [livejournal.com profile] indilime and your pic spam XD)

Young Sirius is yay.

Galaxy Quest is some awesomeness. I love that Alan Rickman is an alien, Dr. Lazerus, and that just makes me squee like the little fangirl that I am.

From: [identity profile] catvampcrazines.livejournal.com

Oh, very lovely eye candy. Lol, who new Shia Lebuf could be sexy?
My faves are Gale, Seth, and Jensen.

Dude, of course GQ is a love letter to fans! It's the geeks that save the day, after all. Who but fans would have the interior of a ship mapped out, and the timing sequence of the chomper...thingies figured out?
Tony Shaloub cemented my love for him forever with that movie.
"Could they be the miners?"
"Sure, they're like three years old."
"MINERS, not MINORS."
"You lost me."
