I'm having difficulty with what classifies as "good" these days.

For instance. Today I watched: Masai Women (a TV doco), The Thin Red Line, Idol, Malcolm in the Middle, Enough Rope, and Queer as Folk. The absolute best thing I saw all day out of these was Queer as Folk. It was the episode where Brian's father dies--the bowling, Ted and Blaine (Blake?), Justin "deflowers" (hehe) Daphne, etc. and so on. This is followed by: Enough Rope, Malcolm, Idol, and tied last? Masai Women and Thin Red Line. You know, the critically acclaimed documentary and film. The ones I had to watch for class. At least Masai Women was moderately interesting when I learned to completely ignore the infuriating and biased voice-over. Thin Red Line, on the other hand, had almost no entertainment value. I enjoyed naming everybody in the cast. That was about it. And it was 3. Hours. Long. 3 hours of bird shots and tree shots and people getting blown up and incessant philosophical ramblings from army men who look like they could barely tie their own shoes. I don't mean that as an insult to the actors, who are all actually pretty good, just dead boring in this film. But really, these people aren't supposed to be particularly bright, and yet here they are musing on the meaning of life while their friends are blown up around them??

To something happy. Two girls got through in Idol, including the one I voted for. Yay! Although, next week we have 4 guys, a girl and a drag queen. Interesting. I'm so voting for Courtney, coz she rocks so hard.
That Queer as Folk episode is *so fucking good* that it hurts. The last scene is one where I actually didn't realise I was holding my breath until the credits started to roll. Couldn't you just die to have Emmett as your friend? Brian is the sexiest thing on legs, possibly excluding Dom. The Justin/Daphne stuff makes me really uncomfortable, which I think is ind of the point. I just. Love.
Meanwhile, Enough Rope was about cancer survivors, and it was really interesting. That's about all I have to say about that.

Bumped into T&N today, just at random. They very kindly returned a book to the library for me. Thankyou :D Also saw Attila on the bus. We had a long discussion about how I hate Thin Red Line. Grr.

Gee, what a shock.

Link of the day. This is way, way too funny. Normally I'm not a big fan of manips, but if it's all a joke, I'm all for it :D
