Ask Me My Fandom Opinion

How this works:
1. Ask me one fandom-related question in the comments (look for fandoms in my interests). This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/in general. Ask anything.

2. Try to stick to one question...though it can be one question with several parts, I suppose.

3. That's it. It can be as normal or odd as you like.

I love [livejournal.com profile] dryope for making my day so much better, and [livejournal.com profile] truffle_shuffle for keeping me entertained on MSN/AIM.

Since everyone on my flist is suddenly watching Queer as Folk (by everyone I mean [livejournal.com profile] indilime and [livejournal.com profile] dreaminoflorien) I figured I'd do a Brian Kinney/Gale Harold picspam.

The most fuckable character on TV ever bar none

A-freakin'-men!

After the Lost Season 2 finale, what is your theory/ies as to the nature of the island?

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

It's a big scientific experiment conducted by the Dharma Initiative but more or less abandoned when it got out of hand.

Which character, of any fandom, would you dip in a vat of rotten eggs and slap with a dead chicken?

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Peter Pettigrew. I hate that evil dipshit pile of slime.

Will be pimping this over at my journal, yes I will. Everybody must see Gale Harold's tongue have sex with a paper clip.

Also, with regards to the music/musicians that you like, did you all like them immediately upon hearing their songs, or did you intially dislike some of them and they just grew on you?

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Bit of a mix of both. Some grew on me, some I instantly liked.

The White Stripes are a good example of a band that really grew on me. At first I was convinced I didn't like them and refused to listen to anything by them for years, but then I downloaded their cover of Jolene because it's a man singing about a woman stealing his man, which is just too cool, and then I fell in love with them.

My Chemical Romance, I liked the band first and then their music.

Then there's people like Jason Mraz, who I loved instantly with the first song I heard by him.

Ron, I love you for posting. And [livejournal.com profile] green_queen, I love you for uploading. Forever and ever and ever. I'll be taking some of these and posting on another community, is that alright?

Go for your life, I took them from other people in the first place. Enjoy!

I've been watching Queer as Folk for a while now... probably almost 6 months, but I had a HUGE gap between season 2 and 3, since I couldn't get my hands on it.. then I got 3, 4, and 5 in a one-week span and finished them all in about... 3 weeks.

Mmmm, I love torrents *DIES* Also, I've found I speak more like Brian Kinney afteward. He kicks so much arse.

From: [identity profile] maja-carlisle.livejournal.com

I noticed that I start using the f-word a lot more when I'm in one of my Quaffy phases...

Brian Kinney = teh sex

Gale Harold... I so cannot picture him playing a straight man... and I know that Gale is married... to a woman... *shivers*

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

While it's true, it's also worth noting that Gale Harold is certifiable. Definitely the weirdest celebrity I've come across.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Well, decide for yourself (http://members.shaw.ca/galeharold/Gale_notes.htm).

From: [identity profile] prunejuicebob.livejournal.com

just want to let you guys know, but he is not married or engaged or anything like that. just thought I'd clear that up.

also, thanks for the link. I love Gale's interviews, he's such a character! :))

I have a tendency to start talking like characters I'm reading about more than the ones I watch. When I was studying Trainspotting I thought in Scottish for a week, and lately I've been thinking in a Southern accent and saying 'bitch' a lot thanks to reading lots and lots of Supernatural fic/RPS.

From: [identity profile] truffle-shuffle.livejournal.com

*snort* Hee.

I was in Austin for 24 hours once and picked up the accent within 6 hours while I was there. Little, lilting Texas accent. My roommate kept looking at me funny and I was like "I can't help it!" And I can't. I pick up accents way too easily, especially when submerged in them.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

See, I can *listen* to them for years and only pick up the slightest accent, but when I *read* them, I start thinking in those accents and using those speech patterns. Dear God in heaven but I'm a freak.

I totally see that. I had to pick up a Brooklyn accent for a play once and I had to watch TONS of movies to get it right. No dialogue coach ever helped. And it stuck for 6 months afterwards.

Scottish (for Brigadoon) was easy since my Dad is Scottish and a few of my words come out Scottish anyway no matter how hard I try not to.

My accent is like mud. A little bit of everything.

But I did use the shotgun/cakehole quote last night in the car.

Oh, and QaF...I remember watching the first episode and really, really, really wishing I were a gay man.

From: [identity profile] truffle-shuffle.livejournal.com

Aww. Talking to you makes me happy too. *hugs*

Ok, fandom question:
If one major character on VM had to be killed off in season three, who would you choose it to be?

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Oh! Um, that's hard. You're mean.

I guess the only actual regulars I could live without are Wallace and Mac. Which is weird, because I love them, but I can't imagine the show without the others (or I just love them too much to let them go.)

1047420483054 bonus points for spreading the QaF and Gale Harold ♥!!

I very much enjoyed the picspam. :) Thanks.
