Stolen from
stufsocker:
1) Does film best tell the truth (Godard) or tell lies (De Palma) at 24 frames per second? It tells the truth about the human condition through the lies and devices inherent in film - because even falsified documentaries tell us something about ourselves.
2) Ideal pairing of actors/actresses to play on-screen siblings:
Real-life siblings: Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
3) Favorite special effects moment: *ponders* You'd think it'd be something incredible and impressive, but I think my all-time favourite has to be that lineup of the Fellowship during the Council of Elrond in Fellowship of the Ring. The best special effects aren't just about big and impressive, they're about convincing us of what's real and taking us into the world. That was sort of the defining moment in whether or not Lord of the Rings could succeed as movies for me.
Plus those hobbits are so darn cute.
4) Matt Damon or George Clooney? Clooney's growing on me, but it's still Matt Damon.
5) What is the movie you’ve encouraged more people to see than any other? Brokeback Mountain.
6) Favorite film of 1934: The Gay Divorcee. Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire :)
7) Your favorite movie theater: I can't say I've been to any particularly interesting movie theatres. I mean, Mann's Chinese Theatre has a certain allure, but I haven't been there.
8) Jean Arthur or Irene Dunne? Jean Arthur.
9) Favorite film made for children: The Goonies.
10) Favorite Martin Scorsese Movie:Goodfellas Taxi Driver Goodfellas.
11) Favorite film about children: Different to 9? Stand By Me, then.
12) Favorite film of 1954: The Seven Samurai.
13) Favorite screenplay written by a writer more famous for literature than screenplays: Yeah, I have no idea.
14) Walter Matthau or Jack Lemmon? Jack Lemmon.
15) Favorite character name: Lloyd Dobler. Most unfortunately named character ever. Han Solo and Captain Jack Sparrow for cool.
16) Favorite screenplay adapted from a work of great literature, either by the author himself or by someone else: Lord of the Rings. What? I'm biased. That or Brokeback...
17) Favorite film of 1974: Blazing Saddles.
18) Joan Severance or Shannon Tweed? No idea.
19) jackass: the movie-- yes or no? No.
20) Favorite John Cassavetes Movie: Blech, not a Cassavetes fan.
21) First R-rated movie you ever saw: I don't know.
22) Favorite X-rated film (remember that, while your answer may well be a famous or not-so-famous hard-core film, the "X" rating was once also a legitimate rating that did not necessarily connote pornography): Hmm, what's one that was originally released with an X rating? The only one I can think of that I've seen is A Clockwork Orange, which I don't like.
23) Best film of 1994: Pulp Fiction.
24) Describe a moment in a movie that made you weep: I don't want to spoil Rebel Without a Cause for anyone, so Sam's "I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you!" to Frodo in Return of the King.
25) Ewan McGregor or Ewan Bremner? Ewan McGregor.
26) One of your favorite line readings (not necessarily one of your favorite lines) from this or any year: I'm going to go with this year, just for Jack Twist's speech, including "You are too much for me Ennis, you sonofawhoreson bitch! I wish I knew how to quit you." The movie is technically from last year, but I saw it this year.
27) What, if any, element in a film, upon your hearing of its inclusion beforehand, would most likely prejudice you against seeing that film or keeping an open mind about it? My sister saying it was the Best Movie Ever.
28) Favorite Terry Gilliam Movie: Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
29) Jean Smart or Annie Potts? Jean Smart
30) Is it possible to know with any certainty if you could like or love someone based partially on their taste in movies? Absolutely. For me, anyway. I'm a film student, after all.
ETA: 10 ways Supernatural would be different if it were written by dogs. SPORFLE.
