So I go away for a few days and come back, looking forward to catching up on fandom, and I come home to a buggy computer and my DVD I ordered from Amazon ages ago still not arrived. Spiffy.
ETA: and I thought I'd gotten RID of the bloody navbar. MAKE IT GO AWAAAAAY.
Things I hate about the new Supernatural sides:
1. 'This is Alex. A stunner, even in jeans, tee-shirt and greasy apron. If Dean could turn his head, he'd enjoy the view.'
*cough*MarySue*cough*
2. The fact that their daddy JUST DIED and now they're HUNTING KILLER CLOWNS. KILLER FUCKING CLOWNS. With our beloved Daddy John DEAD.
3. 'Alex: "Sam, Dean, you made it!"
She rushes to them...gives Sam a hug...gives Dean a hug and a kiss. The brother's [sic] share a look - hmm.'
I've read that kind of abuse of grammar and ellipses before. In fanfiction.
4. Miles, Ellen and Alex's random back room that sounds like seven combined seasons of Willow. Weak technopagans, anyone?
5. Alex. Just in general.
6. Ellen's all "I can help you find the demon, but first I'm going to divert you with KILLER. FUCKING. CLOWNS."
7. My biggest, most painful gripe:
'Dean: "Whoa. Hold up right there. You don't know me. I miss Dad in ways you can't even think of. But he's dead. And I'm okay with that...
(then)
...don't dump your touchy-feely crap on me."
Sam: (cold) "What?"
Dean: "I was there. Your last words to Dad. You picked a fight. You've been picking fights with him since you could walk. Now he's dead and it's eating you up. Am I right?"'
Less than two minutes later neither of them acknowledges that this ever happened.
So, okay. Dean, our Dean who flipped out over someone he didn't know dying so he could live, has absolutely no problems with the fact that John traded his life for Dean's. Not only that, he's pissy with Sam for picking fights with his father. Because that's not a moot point or anything. WHY IS IT FUCKING ALWAYS ABOUT SAM? Family boy Dean doesn't give a shit about his father's death but SAM's all eaten up about it? Am I missing something? Is it me? Do I just not know the boys? Or is it Kripke who doesn't know the boys? I'm feeling like Dean's pretty much just a foil for Sam, so whatever Kripke wants Sam to feel Dean makes that happen. ARGH.
Oh, and 8: ALEX.
Things I like about the new Supernatural sides:
1. Dean dubbing the big bad 'the Big Bad.' Too much Buffy for Dean. :D
2. Dean doesn't seem overly interested in Alex so far, which is something, at least.
...uh, I'm done.

The Ellen side is still what it was, but the Alex side has this new emphasis on Dean's angst, re-writing that intro scene. Ellen singles him out deliberately to ask "How are you doing?" after she hears that John is dead, and when he answers that he's fine, Sam is "not comfortable with this whole avoidance thing". (Sam angst? What Sam angst? That's something I never thought I'd see... and my god, can't Kripke handle a little balance?)
So... it might still be that they're trying to mold Dean into this zen-like character following his Tessa experience (which would totally set him up for that, yeah? perhaps even seeing her take John away), with that stoic acceptance used to bounce Sam's quest off of. There was also the rumor that he wants a normal life now, Dean, and Sam is the one who passionately wants to hunt. WTF?? But if they're gonna push the zen thing or whatnot, that would make sense... :/ Unfortunately.
Alex is such a no-win character. And they're being "introduced" as a new hunting pair, Ellen and Alex. Which means, we'll be seeing them a bit, apparently. For up to half the season perhaps?? Ugh!

I've noticed a lot lately that things will be put into the sides that either never make it to the show, or are completely false because with the internet as it is now, everyone knows the sides get leaked. Lost, for instance, will never put their sides online. When our client had a meeting with them, they faxed us the sides at the very last minute.
