FUCK FUCKITY FUCK FUCK FUCK.
I wrote out a whole big entry and then the computer got all shitty with me and I lost it all. So I'm going to try to rewrite it, but it won't all be here because the world hates me.
Anyway, I'm rereading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix again. Problem is, I've decided to start sticking bits of paper in where I think something's important. I've got 8 bits of paper in it already and I'm not quite up to The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black yet. I know they're probably not spoilers anymore, but just to be safe. Okay, firstly, I'm noticing the subtext between Sirius and Lupin more and more each time I reread the book. The whole argument between Molly and Sirius is a perfectly example of this. Lupin doesn't take his eyes off Sirius during the entire shouting match. He sticks up for Sirius, and when he tells Sirius to sit down he does so immediately. Lupin and Sirius glance at each other when Harry asks what Voldie's looking for other than supporters. Finally, when the discussion has ended, it's Lupin who tells Sirius to back off--and he does. Does this sound like more than just respect between friends to you? Lupin and Molly are friends. Hell, Molly and Sirius are friends. You still don't get this kind of connection between anyone else--I definitely feel as though Sirius and Lupin are together.
Secondly, Petunia knows a hell of a lot more than she lets on. I think she has always been jealous of Lily--feiging horror, but secretly listening in, fascinated by the wizarding world. I mean, she didn't jsut know about Dementors guarding Azkaban--she also knew about Voldemort and the very real threat he poses to the world at large, AND she knows that owls deliver the news.
Finally, Mark Evans is almost definitely, in my mind, a very important character. I know he's only mentioned once, but I'm fairly sure that it's too much of a coincidence. Two Evans families, both only mentioned in Book 5? Plus, he's ten years old. Meaning, one year off entry to Hogwarts. I think he'll be to HP what Dawn was to Buffy. A sudden familial connection, a younger one, giving Harry responsibility.
Not much RL stuff to discuss today. I had a driving lesson, which went very well :D the teacher, Alistair, said I should be done in no time. w00t!!
I'm still really rather sick, so I stayed home watching Lizzie McGuire on Disney most of the day, except for popping down the post office to send my cousin a birthday present. The soon-to-be-cousins are back, and they and my sister are drving me absolutely up the wall. I watched Stargate. Jonas kicks so much ass!! Daniel also rocks, can't wait to see him next week. MacGyver's still hot. Did I mention I love Jonas?
And now I present to you, a
WHY DOES NOBODY RESPECT SPOILERS ANYMORE?!? I'm serious, this is disgusting. I've seen spoilers for Return of the King posted just about everywhere. I agree, people should read the book before they see the film. Maybe they haven't got around to it yet. Or maybe they want to be surprised by how things look in the film. I don't know, but it shouldn't be for us to decide for them what they see. I've always loved spoilers for Buffy and Angel, but I can seek them out for myself, thanks. I'm even trying to go spoiler-free for the next Angel season. And I'd never dream about looking at spoilers for the HP books. I think it's rude and inconsiderate not to think of the shining beacons of virtuosity and self-control that are the spoiler-frees. I'm generally a spoiler whore, but please, respect others' wishes!!.
What am I up to? Okay, Link of the Day is happy dancer, gacked from bedtimestories on Xanga. I love it, it's wonderful.
Now, I'm guessing most big LotRiPS fans have seen
patsie999's fantastic new pics already, but I'm gonna use them once they're up on Bag End Inn. For now, those Gale pics I promised yesterday from
tobymalfoy, at the HotAss Gallery.
