Totally forgot to do the [livejournal.com profile] spn_fridayfive.

1. Did you really start watching for the plot?
Yeah, no. Although I do love shows about demon-hunting. No, I watched it for Jared and Jensen.

2. If the show focused on two sisters instead of two brothers, would you still watch it?
I have no idea. The two girls could be terrible actresses. Also, I can't see Eric Kripke being able to sustain a story about two girls. He has trouble writing decent female characters. That would mean the writing would be worse, in which case I wouldn't watch it.

Hypothetically, if the writing was strong and they were good actresses, then yeah I'd watch it.

3. In what other ways do you think the demon can be killed?
By the combined power of Jared and Jensen's pretty. Or maybe Sam's SUPERMINDPOWERS.

4. How well do you think Kripke manages to balance out the scary/action/angst/humor in this series? And what do you think of how he manages to get the viewers to see things from the other perspective?
Augh, don't get me started on Kripke. Kripke has said himself that he thinks of the story first and then tries to work the characters into his story. Sam and Dean kind of came about through luck. I'd have to say the angst pretty much overshadows everything else - it's generally the best written part of the show. Most of the show isn't really that scary, because Kripke goes for the visual scares rather than psychological scares - about the only exceptions I can think of are Asylum and Faith, which are scarier concepts. He also has trouble relating the MotW to what the brothers are going through in that episode. Some of the humour is great, but even that's not quite as good.
Of course, I'm used to being spoiled by Joss Whedon, so pretty much everything else pales in comparison.

What other perspective?

5. Who is your favourite guest star so far? And why?
Amber Benson, because I love her and there can be no other option.

Also, back in my 'request a picspam' post, the option that came up the most was boys in makeup/drag, so I put together a picspam of that. Enjoy.

i love you.

so deliciously dom heavy with the makeup. stupid mouse. not enough eyeliner these days.

did i see a baby elijah in there? lmao.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

I loved it when he was wearing eyeliner all the time. It only lasted a little while but it was fun while it did ;)

LOL YES. BEST EVER.

From: [identity profile] rainjewel.livejournal.com

I know I lurk for the most part but this was wonderful. I especially loved the overall variety of the shots (though hello Mr. Monaghan). Thanks!

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Well, of course there's more Dom than anyone else. This is my journal, after all.

From: [identity profile] sargraf.livejournal.com

Ooooh, this was a fun way to wake up! :)

Gorgeous boys. Is that Viggo, near the top? What is that from? (Brad Pitt just scares me, man.)

Re: Kripke, I totally agree with you: Kripke has said himself that he thinks of the story first and then tries to work the characters into his story. Unfortunately, it shows. As much as I loved IMToD, say, it wasn't nearly as layered as ELaC and CSPWDT. And this? Kripke goes for the visual scares rather than psychological scares. Word. I wish he'd stretch himself a bit in that regard. The visual scares just aren't that scary, certainly not on repeated viewing.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Yeah, that's Viggo. I have no idea what that's from, I just found the picture somewhere, I've had it forever. I love the Brad Pitt shots.

But IMToD has the PYJAMAS and the OUIJA. None of the other episodes have pyjamas and ouija boards. I'm looking forward to Croatoan, that seems like it might at least be a little scary. Nothing has scared me in ages, apart from the general clowns-are-scary, but then they fucked that up with a stupid explanation.

I didn't know that many pictures existed of boys in make up. lol

That picture of Tobey with the red make up around his eye kills me every time. DAMN.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

You know me. If it exists, I've got it. Actually, there's probably loads more I haven't got, but I do tend to pick up pictures even of guys I don't like if they're dressed like girls or wearing makeup.

Yeah, it's a pretty shoot, that one.

From: [identity profile] faeryfroggy.livejournal.com

Oh such a nice selection! Thanks for the Some Like It Hot images! And Rufus. You know, Rufus is pretty in pictures, but he so much more pretty live and in person.

And I'm just going to go scroll through those images again.

From: [identity profile] vehiclesshockme.livejournal.com

Awesome pic!spam. So glad that you included Eddie Izzard too cause it would've been so wrong without him. ;)

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Lots of them make hot women. I've always thought Mike makes a particularly awesome girl. It's not just how he looks, it's how he acts in drag.

From: [identity profile] leishpod.livejournal.com

*Overdoses on the pretty and dies*

god DAMN girl, you trying to kill people?!

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

OMG NO, you have discovered my secret evil plan! To kill people using the pretty. Now I must work on a new evil plan.

From: [identity profile] rosamundeb.livejournal.com

God help us... who is that in the red halter dress (on SNL, but in Russian?) - is that Huey Lewis???? And what is the story with Brad Pitt in dress after dress after dress? Cool!

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

That, my dear, would be Antonio Banderas.

That's just a photoshoot for Rolling Stone. I love it, he's just a guy wearing dresses and still looking like a guy.

From: [identity profile] rosamundeb.livejournal.com

No waaaay! Boy... Antonio makes one homely woman - *G*

Love it, too, especially with the shaved head and the let it all hang out attitude.

You make me thankful for my eyes! Are you not going to review Australian Idol?

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

I'm a little depressed about Idol now that Bobby's left. Especially since Dean was in the bottom two. Now Bobby's gone he's about the only one left I want to win.

I was actually listening to Mustang Sally when I read this comment.

From: [identity profile] velvetshock.livejournal.com

Personally I am going for Damien. What a voice, and he sings a lot of Radiohead. Also that Irish accent makes me swoon! I hope Dean wins as the album that Mark produces would be more his style than Damien's. Also HE LOOKS HOT WITH HIS TOP OFF..

That is some picspam!

I have this site where I list drag appearances (Drag Database (http://hyel.thedanamark.net/dragbase/)) and I don't think I have all these. What magazine was that Brad Pitt photoshoot in? Could you tell me the names of the people here who are in full on drag? Many of them I can't recognize. There's Viggo and Dom and Jack Sparrow and Hugo Weaving and Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis and Lex Luthor and Patrick Swayze and John Leguizamo and Wesley Snipes and holy crap is that Ron Weasley? And I see Mr Giles, too, and the guy from Cabaret, and Macauley Culkin, though I really don't know where the photos are from. Gary Oldman, little Elijah from Huck Finn. That's about it.

I'm sorry, don't tell me if it's too much of a bother, but if you could, I'd love to know who they are and in which context did they dress in drag, which play or movie or event?

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Uh, okay, here we go.

Brad Pitt shoot was for Rolling Stone, I think it was 2000.

The actor who plays Ron Weasley is called Rupert Grint and yes, that's him for a school play.

Giles is Anthony Stewart Head.

There's a few shots of guys as the Emcee from Cabaret: Alan Cumming (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/green_queen/Stuff/Eyeliner/alan_cumming.jpg), John Stamos (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/green_queen/Stuff/Eyeliner/cabaret.jpg), Neil Patrick Harris (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/green_queen/Stuff/Eyeliner/NeilPatrickHarris.jpg)< (Doogie Howser), Toby Allen (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/green_queen/Stuff/Eyeliner/tobycabaret2.jpg) and Joel Grey (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/green_queen/Stuff/Eyeliner/cabaret2.jpg), who played the film version - the others were for plays.

I just like the pictures. Same with Jon Stewart (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/green_queen/Stuff/Eyeliner/bJonStewart01.jpg) and Antonio Banderas (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/green_queen/Stuff/Eyeliner/antoniobanderasdrag.jpg).

...I knew his name was Rupert Grint. He's still Ron Weasley to me.

Thank you very much! That means a lot more notes for the collection. :)

GUUUUH. Gael looks GORGEOUS as a woman. Cillian too - he is just alarmingly pretty. (L)

I am surprised there's no picture of The Libertines - I can't find it now, but I know I've seen pictures of Pete Doherty playing live in drag - the red lipstick mark on Carl Barat's cheek makes everything even funnier (and shamelessly gayer).
