Totally forgot to do the
spn_fridayfive.
1. Did you really start watching for the plot?
Yeah, no. Although I do love shows about demon-hunting. No, I watched it for Jared and Jensen.
2. If the show focused on two sisters instead of two brothers, would you still watch it?
I have no idea. The two girls could be terrible actresses. Also, I can't see Eric Kripke being able to sustain a story about two girls. He has trouble writing decent female characters. That would mean the writing would be worse, in which case I wouldn't watch it.
Hypothetically, if the writing was strong and they were good actresses, then yeah I'd watch it.
3. In what other ways do you think the demon can be killed?
By the combined power of Jared and Jensen's pretty. Or maybe Sam's SUPERMINDPOWERS.
4. How well do you think Kripke manages to balance out the scary/action/angst/humor in this series? And what do you think of how he manages to get the viewers to see things from the other perspective?
Augh, don't get me started on Kripke. Kripke has said himself that he thinks of the story first and then tries to work the characters into his story. Sam and Dean kind of came about through luck. I'd have to say the angst pretty much overshadows everything else - it's generally the best written part of the show. Most of the show isn't really that scary, because Kripke goes for the visual scares rather than psychological scares - about the only exceptions I can think of are Asylum and Faith, which are scarier concepts. He also has trouble relating the MotW to what the brothers are going through in that episode. Some of the humour is great, but even that's not quite as good.
Of course, I'm used to being spoiled by Joss Whedon, so pretty much everything else pales in comparison.
What other perspective?
5. Who is your favourite guest star so far? And why?
Amber Benson, because I love her and there can be no other option.
Also, back in my 'request a picspam' post, the option that came up the most was boys in makeup/drag, so I put together a picspam of that. Enjoy.

Gorgeous boys. Is that Viggo, near the top? What is that from? (Brad Pitt just scares me, man.)
Re: Kripke, I totally agree with you: Kripke has said himself that he thinks of the story first and then tries to work the characters into his story. Unfortunately, it shows. As much as I loved IMToD, say, it wasn't nearly as layered as ELaC and CSPWDT. And this? Kripke goes for the visual scares rather than psychological scares. Word. I wish he'd stretch himself a bit in that regard. The visual scares just aren't that scary, certainly not on repeated viewing.

But IMToD has the PYJAMAS and the OUIJA. None of the other episodes have pyjamas and ouija boards. I'm looking forward to Croatoan, that seems like it might at least be a little scary. Nothing has scared me in ages, apart from the general clowns-are-scary, but then they fucked that up with a stupid explanation.

That's just a photoshoot for Rolling Stone. I love it, he's just a guy wearing dresses and still looking like a guy.

Love it, too, especially with the shaved head and the let it all hang out attitude.

I have this site where I list drag appearances (Drag Database (http://hyel.thedanamark.net/dragbase/)) and I don't think I have all these. What magazine was that Brad Pitt photoshoot in? Could you tell me the names of the people here who are in full on drag? Many of them I can't recognize. There's Viggo and Dom and Jack Sparrow and Hugo Weaving and Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis and Lex Luthor and Patrick Swayze and John Leguizamo and Wesley Snipes and holy crap is that Ron Weasley? And I see Mr Giles, too, and the guy from Cabaret, and Macauley Culkin, though I really don't know where the photos are from. Gary Oldman, little Elijah from Huck Finn. That's about it.
I'm sorry, don't tell me if it's too much of a bother, but if you could, I'd love to know who they are and in which context did they dress in drag, which play or movie or event?

Brad Pitt shoot was for Rolling Stone, I think it was 2000.
The actor who plays Ron Weasley is called Rupert Grint and yes, that's him for a school play.
Giles is Anthony Stewart Head.
There's a few shots of guys as the Emcee from Cabaret: Alan Cumming (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/green_queen/Stuff/Eyeliner/alan_cumming.jpg), John Stamos (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/green_queen/Stuff/Eyeliner/cabaret.jpg), Neil Patrick Harris (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/green_queen/Stuff/Eyeliner/NeilPatrickHarris.jpg)< (Doogie Howser), Toby Allen (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/green_queen/Stuff/Eyeliner/tobycabaret2.jpg) and Joel Grey (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/green_queen/Stuff/Eyeliner/cabaret2.jpg), who played the film version - the others were for plays.

I am surprised there's no picture of The Libertines - I can't find it now, but I know I've seen pictures of Pete Doherty playing live in drag - the red lipstick mark on Carl Barat's cheek makes everything even funnier (and shamelessly gayer).
