Hi and welcome to the snobbiest HP fan comment I've ever read. IF YOU WEREN'T AROUND HARRY'S AGE WHEN THE BOOKS FIRST CAME OUT AND READ THEM THEN, YOU AREN'T A REAL FAN.
Just a Wentworth Miller quote I thought some would enjoy posted by
flamingo_killer:
"Certain people are going to have certain fantasies: if someone wants to imagine me with a woman or a man or one of each, that's cool with me as long as you keep watching the show."
-Wentworth Miller
Today I watched two classic movies, the first of which was To Kill a Mockingbird
I'm not really in the mood to go in-depth on two movies that really deserve it tonight, but I enjoyed this immensely. I am suddenly in the mood to go out and rent EVERY GREGORY PECK MOVIE EVER, and the little girl is amazing. I think kids should see this movie at the age where they're still not entirely clear on right and wrong, but are old enough to understand that old movies have some outdated terms in them. It's such a great morality tale. It's also a very pretty movie, and the sound was fantastic.

The second movie I saw was His Girl Friday
Okay, I've seen other Cary Grant movies, but this still cracked me up: HE REALLY TALKS LIKE TONY CURTIS IN SOME LIKE IT HOT. I never noticed how accurate that impersonation of him is before. The other thing that struck me about this movie was the number of pop-culture references appropriate to the time that popped up. The dialogue moves at an absolutely astounding pace, so much so that I missed huge chunks of it, but the stuff I caught had a hit for every miss, in my opinion. I really enjoyed the movie, but I think the second half suffered from the usual stage-to-film problem of too many words in too few locations - we don't leave the press room for about the last 20 minutes. Regardless, it was fun, and Rosalind Russel was absolutely magnetic and very tough, which I enjoyed.

1. Can Muggles brew Potions?
Theoretically, although I imagine that since the ingredients and cauldron can only be purchased in magical places, I suppose only squibs would have the opportunity to try.
2. If you were in the Order of the Phoenix, what would your security question be? (ie: of Mollywobbles/airplanes fame)
Well if I TELL you, it defeats the purpose, doesn't it? I'd probably go with 'where is that place where we did that thing that time?' I actually have a place, but very few people would know where it is, it's pretty random.
3. If Kreacher, Dobby, and Winky got in a fight, who would win?
Winky. Kreacher's too old and Dobby's too nice, but I hear Winky fights dirty. She's a hair puller.
4. What form would your patronus take? Why?
I'm really amused by the idea of it taking the form of a sloth or something. It's like 'Go get the Dementors!' 'But I am le tired.' 'Fine, take a nap. THEN get the Dementors!'
5. How many times have you read each book?
Uh, I read them through once every sixth months and with each new movie, but I've read the third one more than that and I try to read the new ones a couple of times extra. So....a lot?
Dean’s mental state and the Metallicar, season 2. It’s like porn.

1. What's the quality you admire the most about your favourite guest star?
She's Amber Benson.
2. Of the characters we've met, who do you think acts the most like a mother figure (other than Mary) towards the boys?
Oh, this is just begging for Missouri or Ellen, but I can't stand either of them to tell you the truth. So maybe a really intolerable mother figure.
If I rephrase the question a little, though, I can say Dean was most like a mother figure towards Sam in raising him. I like that answer better. Or there's always the Metallicar...
3. How do you think the lack of a permanent female presence in their lives has affected the brothers?
Interestingly, my answer ties in to my answer to #2. Sam's much more genuinely self-confident than Dean is, probably because Dean took such good care of him.
Research suggests that having parental figures of both genders isn't necessary to normal development, though. The children of single-parent families and two parents of the same sex usually don't grow up unbalanced or anything, so it's more likely to be a result of their lack of parenting that caused their problems.
4. Do you believe the different lighting cast on characters in this show is of any significance at all? And if so, what do you believe it's an indication of?
The...literal lighting? Of course it has significance. Everything on camera is thought through, and lighting gives us visual cues all the time. Then again, they screwed up that shadow in The Usual Suspects, so my hopes aren't THAT high.
5. Recommend one or two fanfics in this fandom that you've really enjoyed. (Please include whether pairings if applicable.)
My all-time favourite is Miss It By a Country Mile by
onelittlesleep, which is disturbing and sad and one of the most powerfully-written pieces I've ever read. This question wouldn't be much fun for non-fic readers, though.

At the 2005 Golden Globes.

To Kill a Mockingbird is an amazing novel and I remember really loving the movie but haven't seen it since high school english. Maybe I should pick it up again to refresh the old memory!

As for the HP quote, well. Pretension comes in all ages I guess.
I have His Girl Friday and The Philadelphia Story on my DVR just waiting for me. I don't know why I keep putting it off, but I really must get around to it one of these evenings. I suck.

I tried to get The Philadelphia Story and Bringing Up Baby when I got HGF but no such luck :( I have seen Philadelphia Story before, it's a favourite, but not Bringing Up Baby. I want to see it!

lolz but if you really think about it, Harry was born in 1981 so I think only people around that age could be real fans :ppp

Also, Dom looked amazing at the Golden Globe. ngghg.
Your answer to the fourth hp question is hilarious. Best flash video EVER.
And I got quoted in an entry. WIN. Well, technically, WM got quoted, but yay.

Actually, if you go by the dates of the book, Harry was born in 1980, two years before me and three before you.
That said, the Harry Potter fans I know include a 41-year-old German man and Anthony's 74 year-old grandmother who devoured my Italian version of the Philosophers' Stone. The reason it is so popular is precisely because so many different people love it.
