The GG pool's been created. I don't generally do my picks based on who I actually think will win anymore. Sometimes I do, but in certain categories I pick the person I want to win, because one year I didn't and that person won and I've been upset about it ever since. I'd rather be supportive and wrong than backstabbing and right.
Everybody's seen them, but POTC3 posters.

1. Potions
I have been totally enchanted by Potions since Snape first introduced it. "You will learn the subtle science and exact art that is potion-making."
2. Boggarts
I think boggarts are very interesting creatures who have obviously adapted for survival. Inferi are just...zombies.
3. Durmstrang
Just because it's sturm and drang, and that's cool.
4. Arthur
That's not a nice question! I have a fondness for Arthur and his eccentricities. He's basically a fanboy.
5. Sir Nicholas
I've loved him since he said 'Sir Properly Decapitated-Podmore.' I also found his speech to Harry after Sirius died very poignant.
spn_fridayfive
1. What's the one most humorous incident/fact that's been presented in the episodes so far?
Okay, there's something coming two episodes from now that had me crying with laughter, but since that hasn't happened yet...the Katie Holmes quip. It's so true and unexpected and I really liked it.
2. If humans can be represented by animal forms, what animals do you think Sam and Dean will be?
The 'what kind of tree would you be?' sorts of questions always irritate me. Um...Jared would be a puppy. There.
3. Do you live off spoilers or avoid them?
Downloading the episodes before they air here could be considered spoilers! Actually for Supernatural I live off them. I don't really care about being spoiled. I avoid spoilers like the plague when it's Harry Potter, though.
4. The Demon said it had family - children. Do you think that means literal offspring - baby!Demons - or like-minded, similar demons?
I think they're his demon spawn, less powerful versions of himself.
5. What was your first reaction to what Dean told Sam in the beginning of Hunted?
Haven't seen it yet, but I have a feeling I know what it's going to be anyway. I imagine I will be entirely underwhelmed.

Once tagged by this entry, you list ten movies: your Five Favourites and your Five Guilty Pleasures. Then pick five of your friends and tag them. No tag-backs. This explanation should be included.
Five Favourites
1. The Lord of the Rings trilogy - and yes, I count the trilogy as one movie. Many people do. No other movie has ever engaged me in the characters, kept me on the edge of my seat and affected me visually as much as LotR. I go every step of the way with Sam, even when he's not the nicest, and all the other characters are just made more real in the movies than the books for me. I also think it features a large amount of the most beautiful footage ever seen. It's genuinely rousing - my chest swells and I become absorbed in the world every time I see it. Everybody gave so much to this movie - every detail, every nuance is done so well. I also completely adore the cast and crew, which contributes more to my love of the films.
2. Singin' in the Rain - a lot of you know what this movie means to me. I can't tell you my initial reaction to it because I've been watching it every year since I was three, but I still delight in nearly every moment of it every time I see it. I love a good musical. I love the characters and the songs and the dancing. I've written three essays on this movie at this point and it still hasn't dampened my enthusiasm for it.
3. The Goonies - the movie I watch the most. I know every line of not only the movie, but also the commentary. I think it's the most natural kids' adventure movie ever made. Everything seems real because the kids swear and talk over each other and really act like kids through the whole thing. It's rainy and the kids aren't all perfect looking, but that just adds to it. The fantasy elements of the movie - One Eyed Willie, the ship and the Fratellis - are grounded by the setting and the kids, and made more real for it. Plus it's funny.
4. Y Tu Mama Tambien/Prisoner of Azkaban/Children of Men - I'm having trouble deciding on a Cuaron feature to put here - each has something the others don't, and I love all of them. His movies are gorgeous and flowing and he gets such good performances out of everybody.
5. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - I wasn't expecting this to make the list, but the fact remains that I just cannot stop watching it. It's so clever and funny and action-packed. Literally the smartest action movie I've ever seen. It's got a gay lead character, two screwed-up middle-aged stars at the height of their acting skills and a gorgeous newcomer just getting into it, and the sharpest dialogue in years. Most underrated movie ever.
5. Pulp Fiction - shut up. It does not make six. Come on, this is the ultimate in filmmaking for filmmaking's sake. All surface and tricks, no substance, and one of the best movies ever.
1. Dude, Where's My Car? - I don't actually have any shame in loving any of my 'guilty pleasure' movies. These are just movies that I know aren't exactly pure genius or the best movies ever made, but I enjoy watching anyway. Dude, Where's My Car? is hilarious and fun and sublimely silly without ever thinking it's anything other than an extended comic strip. Plus, boykissing!
2. High School Musical - okay, so the writing is bad, the acting is largely abysmal, the movie has absolutely no conflict and little of any value to say, the direction is mostly pedestrian and even the singing isn't the height of entertainment. I just love the enthusiasm behind it. It's fun and exuberant, and the kids put everything into it. The dance scenes are where the movie really comes alive. And Zac Efron's just so cute!
3. Zoolander - aka the most quotable, hilarious frat pack extended sketch ever. How could making fun of male models not be fun?
4. A Knight's Tale - Heath Ledger has skinny little girl arms, the plot is paper-thin and the mix of modern and middle-ages almost never works, but Chaucer. Oh, Chaucer. The supporting cast is just so funny, and it has some great gags about living in those dirty times. Also, Rufus Sewell is a sexy bad guy.
5. 80's movies - not just the good ones, either. I don't know why but I have a fascination with 80's movies, both good and bad, particularly aimed at a teen market. The Breakfast Club, Back to the Future, The Goonies, Stand By Me, Pretty in Pink, Weird Science. I've seen St. Elmo's Fire twice. I know that a heap of those movies are actually good, but enough of them aren't for me to be concerned about my mental well-being.
