The cousin left today. He was going to come on the road trip to Sydney next weekend with me and [livejournal.com profile] melissajane14 but he had to go today instead :( though I might see him Australia's Day. And I'm seeing Pan's Labyrinth with Melissa on Tuesday, yay! I introduced her to Heroes tonight and the show has a new fan.

I came second at [livejournal.com profile] lotr_lims. GO SIGN UP for round three!!

Jewel Staite speaks!

Promo pics from Drive! Hot, hot, hot.

Ask Ausiello Lost scoop. There's also PIZ NEWS on there for us Team Piz types. Speaking of which, NEW CHRIS LOWELL PICS!!! He got a haircut! He has the whole pretty-preppy thing down, man.

[livejournal.com profile] mata090680 made LotR:RotK London premiere picspam.

Order of the Phoenix costumes. CHILD VOLDEMORT?! Creeepy. I like the adult female death eater though.

Today I saw Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

I didn't know this had Spike from The Press Gang in it! I used to LOVE that show when I was a kid.

I'd heard a lot about this movie but the hype didn't quite do it justice, because it seemed to focus on the wrong things. It was fun. Melissa and I are both fans of stylish violent movies, and this one had style in spades. Even with all the rip-offs in the genre you can feel the freshness of this, and the cast has a great energy and chemistry. The plot is fun, as is the voice-over. I loved the language of it, the colour palette, the flow. Great movie.

I also recently saw Monster House

This movie was maligned unfairly, I think. It absolutely smacks of an animated version of The Goonies, but unlike in Polar Express, the animation is used (mostly) very well. The best thing about this movie, as with The Goonies, is that it occurs in a realistically un-sugar-coated world with kids who don't do the right thing all the time and act like kids their age really would, and has real menace. The house is scary. The adults have their own issues. It even has a bit of a Burton-esque back-story to it, which is nicely explored. One thing I didn't like was the fact that they tried to recreate that shaky-camera action scene effect that movies use so often now so that you can NEVER TELL WHAT'S HAPPENING. I hate that so much. Otherwise the film is really good, scary and weird but still more real and less watered-down than most of the crap out there for kids.

As well as Dog Soldiers

I've been told several times (although mostly by [livejournal.com profile] tuatha_de) that I had to see this one, and to be fair to him it was every bit as good as he said it was. Granted, the werewolf special effects were as horrendously b-grade as the makeup, but as it was very clearly a budget movie that wasn't too much to its detriment. What it did very well was combine a war movie and a horror movie, so that you get that sense of getting connected to soldiers one by one before they die. It adheres to some war movie cliches, but that enhances the movie rather than detracts from it. There's some great set pieces and wonderful dark, funny moments, and the ending doesn't disappoint.

I'm amused that while looking through the filmographies of two actors from Dog Soldiers and Lock Stock I found movies they'd done with Dom.

Hee.

OMG CUTEST THING. I especially love the little face Jensen's making.

Okay, they look literally joined at the hip in these ones.

Jensen wants YOU! Um, yes please.

This is the bit where I'm a bad Dean fangirl, but honestly, Jared looked so pretty at this event.

See?

He has such great eyes.

At Mardi Gras in 2004.

But....why?

Oh Chris Lowell - dang dang dang!!

I'm not going to read the spoiler, but will instead take comfort in the fact that you felt the need to link to it. That satisfied me enough for now. :D

Guh, he's so attractive. I adore him.

The spoiler isn't enormously spoilery, it's more just a bit of information about a character that a guest star is playing. It doesn't tell us anything about Piz that we don't know.

Either Jensen is lying about being 6'1", or Jared's taller than 6'5", because that looks like more than a 5" difference in height, don't you think? Though I want Jensen to be 6'1", because that's the perfect height.

Chris Lowell is so pretty it hurts. VMARS RETURNS THIS WEEK!! YAY!

I don't know, I'm terrible with heights. Jensen towers over a lot of other people, though, and looks to be about the same height as Mike Rosenbaum who's 6' even. He's just a little bit shorter than Welling, too, who's 6'3" according to his IMDb bio. The long and the short of it is that Paddywhack is a goliath but Jensen's tall too ;)

GUH I KNOW. TIME FOR MORE PIZ PLZ!
