Honestly, most of the time, Kripke reminds me of an overgrown twelve-year-old boy. :\ He makes a good figurehead/scapegoat for the fandom, and his enthusiasm is to be commended, but I don't understand the worship. It's been implied or stated more than once that he isn't behind much, if any, of the emotional character development that makes SPN so fantastic and so much more than just two random guys running around shooting at things and setting them on fire--that's all down to Robert Singer and writers like Sera Gamble (and the Js, obviously, but that's neither here nor there). And yet I have this icon, so what do I know. :)
And John Shiban. Don't forget Shiban. He wrote some of my favorite eps from last season. I think Kripke said it best when he said that he alone is capable of such brilliance as the Boogeyman. Also, this show is a lot about the casting. OMG Jensen Ackles!
Oh, I mentally included him. Shiban wrote "Scarecrow" and "Croatoan," after all. :) And yes, the show is definitely dependent on the boys' acting abilities to hold things together, and we're fortunate that they've been up to the challenge; Jared, in particular, has vastly improved since they've been working on SPN.
I miss Joss, too. I know he's been burned horribly by TV, but I desperately want him to come back.
I just said to Melissa last night that he looks like a balding 12-year-old, and he acts like one too. LOL. I think he was responsible for some other things - the music, maybe some of the look of the show, and to some extent the car - so I have to give him some credit. But he's not a great writer. He's certainly no Joss.
