I have to go to the engagement party of my ex and my friend tomorrow. I am not looking forward to it. I just don't like my ex.
hp_fridayfive1. Do you think Dumbledore, ultimately, did the right thing by leaving Harry with the Dursleys when he was a baby?
I think it was the best choice out of those available to him. Ideally, Harry would have been placed with a family who showed him more love and care without him being in the wizarding world, but that just wasn't an option. Also, Harry was protected by the magic of his mother's sacrifice while at the Dursleys', which wouldn't have happened anywhere else.
2. What minor, non-Voldemort-related plot would you most like to see revisited?
I would love for Luna to commentate on another Quidditch match. Not really plot, is it? Like many others, I'd love to find out a bit more about the Marauders - I want to know how it was possible for them to all turn on each other without turning on Peter, how that worked. It's so sad but so interesting.
3. Which character do you think would be most likely to betray others in their organisation (be it the Order, the DA, or even the Death Eaters)?
Well, Snape seems like a fairly obvious one to betray the Death Eaters and Voldemort. I mean...he already is.
4. Will the climax of book 7 be an epic battle? If not, then what?
Of course it will. The climax will probably be like all the others - starts big, until everybody is whittled down to just Harry and Voldemort, facing each other yet again for the last time.
5. Will you be there for the release of book 7 at midnight?
No, because it comes out at 9 am here. Which is when I will be at the bookstore.
Tonight I saw Junebug
Pretentious art film warning! Junebug was the most frustrating movie I've seen in a long time, because it goes nowhere. Now, maybe that does make it truer to life, but doesn't that just defeat the purpose of it being a MOVIE? Films are supposed to take you or the characters on a journey, develop people, make a change. This movie was like...static. It used static images with diegetic sound and static people who don't go anywhere by the end of the film and it was just plain frustrating. It wasn't bad, by any means, just boring.
Amy Adams deserved her Oscar nomination, though - she stole the movie completely, and was captivating for every moment of her gorgeous performance.Ryan Ben McKenzie was good, too, but Alessandro Nivola seemed hopelessly miscast. I didn't expect to like Embeth Davidtz's character as much as I did, but that just frustrated because she didn't get anywhere either. Why spend that much time with characters only to have them finish the film in practically the same place they began it? Bah.
