I hate when friends come to Canberra, don't let me know, and make no plans to see me. I love that Mitchell and Melissa hang out with me a lot, though, and at least Tom told me he was coming. *sigh*

Tonight I saw Tootsie

This movie was actually really brilliant in its handling of gender issues, I went into it preparing to have issues with it but it was fantastic. Dustin Hoffman is beyond perfect in it, and it has some gorgeous little funny moments that make you giggle without trying hard to get laughs. I would write more but I'm tired.

Tootsie is one of my all-time favourite movies - very well-deserving of your "8 out of 10" classification, in my eyes.

I love Tootsie. I was actually going to make a post about it.

Tootsie is generally considered on of the best scripts ever written and essays on what it did right show up in numerous "how-to" books on writing for film.

It's a shame the film doesn't get more attention now with a general audience. There are parts of it that had added relevance in the early 80's, but it still holds up so well. I wish it was better remembered.

If I ever come to Canberra I will be sure to let you know... you may or may not be sorry though *giggles*
