It's a show that females really don't fit in well. I didn't mind Kochanski when she was just someone that Lister dreamed about, and I even liked her few cameos (when she was still Scottish), but as soon as they introduced her as a main character ... :( ... girls just don't have a place (or one that I can see). Even the female Holly felt out of place.

I think that's true, but it's less about sexism and more about the situation our boys are in: the whole point is that they've just got each other, driving each other nuts, with no sex or anything. So when you introduce girls it throws everything off.

Although it would've been much better if Kochanski was the same person when she came on to the show. That character was totally irredeemable for being so normal.

oh I agree. The reason the show works so well is because it's focus on the relationship between Lister and Rimmer. ... wow, I really want to watch Red Dwarf now :) maybe I'll just settle for reading some of the books.

Exactly! Cat and Kryten are useful in being peripheral to that, but also taking some of the intensity out of it.

I want to get the whole series on DVD...but I also want Veronica Mars and Buffy and Angel about a million others that I can NOT afford. (I have Buffy on VHS except parts of season 3 and all of season 7.)

I bought each season as it came out so I have the whole set (looks very pretty lined up). And I have the Buffy box set - my friend works at Sanity and got it for me for a little over $100.

All the best RD scenes involve Lister and Rimmer - nothing beats a good bunk/cockpit scene :)

I was trying to put someone on my shaggable list that I didn't have anywhere else. To be honest, I would shag almost all of the male cast of Heroes. No, really. Adrian, Milo, Masi, Sendhil, Grunberg, Leonard, Zach, any of 'em.

I'm not gonna say they shouldn't write it, but I am not a fan of incest. It's like the new slash, the new way to push the boundaries and be edgy and outside the norm. I can't say it isn't totally out of nowhere, esp. with the Petrellis, but it's not something I can get behind.
