CAN'T STOP THE SERENITY
23 June, 10:45, George Street Cinemas!!

My mother's going to China tomorrow with her dragonboating team and they were on the news tonight XD this is awesome on a number of levels - Mum is really into her dragonboating, and she'll be representing Australia; it totally sticks it to my father, who never really supported her in her interest in the sport; finally, Clare is staying at her friend's place so no sister for a week and a half. WIN.

Notes on those Supernatural character breakdowns from an insider. So this is either total bullshit, or the fandom was right and I was wrong - it isn't Kripke that wants them to introduce badly written female regulars, it's the network. This puts a different spin on things. It doesn't erase some of the other problems with the show, but it does mean that the writers are with me on the idea that the show will be weakened if they have idiotic Impala-backseat-girlfriends of the sexy badass variety.

Plastic!Texas Adventure. Hate to say it, but I think the outtakes might be the best part XD

Rob Thomas talks the demise of Veronica Mars - apparently he was offered the opportunity to write do the FBI show but didn't take it because they weren't guaranteed a shoot after he wrote it OR a pick-up if they shot it. I don't blame him. They can't fuck around with the show like that and expect him to fall at their feet.

Pretty Supernatural & Heroes icons.

The Vatican urges Catholics to stop supporting Amnesty International because it supports abortion. Green Queen urges everyone to stop giving to the Catholic Church because it supports idiocy.
I used to be a Catholic and now I'm an Amnesty International member. Although I don't think they'd like the reason I joined up anyway.

How can it be all the network's fault if they're now on a different network? Or, on the other hand, how is it possible for this "fight" to have been going on since the beginning when the second season it was moved to a different network? I'll entertain the thought that the network has put on pressure, but judging the first season against the second (and now the third), I'd say the pressure started with The CW execs, not the WB execs. They could have recurring hunters, and even recurring hot badass female hunters, and it could work. Where it fails is by adding them as regulars, and forcing romantic undertones onto them.

Yeah, that's the argument I've made in comments in the past.

It's also the wording of the breakdowns that pisses me off. They are caricatures from the get-go.

And then people wonder why nobody's a catholic anymore. It makes me so freaking angry.

Mine too, though at this point is just my grandmother. Catholics are less and less in the world, though, that's what I meant with my previous comment. Other religions have more members now, all over the world and especially in Latin America.

Catholicism is based far too much on ceremony and the Pope, I think. Christians are finding that other options afford them more opportunities to explore their beliefs.

Yup. And then you have pedophilia scandals, how petty some priests are and general decisions the Catholic church makes that are too ancient and make NO sense for the world today (condom use, pre-marital relationships, divorce, etc). I know a lot of people who were really Catholic, did the whole thing, but are now so disappointed by it that they don't even call Catholics anymore, but Christians or Agnostics.

The only thing about that supernatural 'insider' quote that makes it ring untrue to me is the reference to the girl in the haunted painting episode being a result of network bullying. Which I really doubt it was, seeing how the whole process of Sam starting to move on from what happened to his last girlfriend was a big part of the first seasons plot.

Also that quote mentions adding one or two girls and they're adding two, which is kinda more then they're required to do according to that quote. So they're kinda going above and beyond in that department.

it being the catholic church, i cannot be incredibly shocked that they would....but still....
i really want to put into eloquent words how much this angers me, but i just can't find them! also, i'm trying desperately not to say nasty nasty things because i know a lot of catholics still -want- to believe in their church. but it's no less political than the halls of the senate-possibly even moreso! they just have the clever little 'god-is-on-our-side' guise to push their propaganda (oh wait....i suppose the current president has that too, now doesn't he?)

i'm going to go yell and kick stuff--and this reminds me that i have a donation check waiting for a stamp to amnesty in the next room.

(i am of course desperately curious behind the reason you joined up with amnesty??)

So, in Entertainment Weekly they were talking about how fans saved "Jericho" by sending the network 50,000 pouds of peanuts... and then suggested that Veronica Mars fans could try sending disposable cameras to that network.

*doesn't get the joke, but figures you would!*
