- I love Rupert Grint. Everything he did in this movie was absolute love. Ron was SO dedicated to Harry, I thought at some points he would kneel down and pledge allegiance. He was much more Ron-like too - still awkward with girls and kind of goofy, but also brave and sweet.

- The oppressive mood, dark colour palette and sadder music totally fit the mood of this book. It IS a heavy book to read,

- Aberforth shooing away the goat at the Hog's Head! So funny because of the 'illegal charms on a goat' reference in book 4 XD

- How great was it that they left in the 'You can't deny Dumbledore's got style' line and gave it to Kingsley? I couldn't help bursting into applause. That scene, with Dumbledore's escape, was AWESOME. 'Labouring under the impression that I'm going to - what's the phrase? Come quietly.'

- I really enjoyed that lovely little scene where Harry and Luna chill out with the Thestrals. It gives you a sense of who Luna is, an introduction to the Thestrals and a moment of peace, which worked really well for me.

- 12 Grimmauld Place wasn't how I imagined it, but it worked really well for me. I love the room with the family tree all over the walls (and with little portraits on it, just gorgeous) and the kitchen, and the steep staircases. It felt like it was an awful, dark place.

- I know I mentioned it last night, but I feel like Goldenberg and Yates support all my favourite (CANON, BABY) ships. Ron/Hermione was apparent in every scene they had together, Ginny was flirting with Harry and giving Cho death glares throughout (and her personality was coming out, which I loved,) and Remus was with Sirius in every one of his scenes - and I swear Sirius had his arm around Remus during that first meeting. The final fight gave some hints at Neville/Luna, too, so now I wouldn't be surprised if that happened in book 7. I think the ships thing tickled me so much because Steve Kloves is, like, an anti-gay Harry/Hermione shipper and Ron hater, or something.

LIKE A LITTLE FAMILY OR SOMETHING. HARRY AND HIS TWO DADDIES. WOE. Which reminds me, the scene in the Family Tree room, when Sirius said they were going to be a family afterwards and hugged Harry? I almost cried then. Gary Oldman and Dan Radcliffe have perfect chemistry for that relationship.

- Relatedly, I LOVED the way they did Sirius. Showing up at the station, and his love of Harry and encouragement of his interest in the fight, and all the winking, and his sexy pimp suits. I love the way he's all 'GET AWAY FROM MY GODSON, BITCH' and smacks Lucius in the face, and his bitterness about his family and anger at Kreacher. Crazy Gary Oldman rocks my socks. Did anyone else gasp out loud when Sirius called Harry 'James' in the battle, just before he died? Wow, so perfect - it gets the point across that Sirius feels like he has his best friend back without tacky exposition. I just wanted to jump through the screen and steal Sirius and NOT LET HIM DIE, BECAUSE I AM IN LOVE WITH HIM. And also, he was hot. Uh. Sorry. Moving on.

- Also, Bellatrix. She's in what, two scenes? And she almost steals the movie. I occasionally had issues with the way she talks and acts in the book, the way she taunts Harry in a baby voice, but HBC completely sold it with her unhinged performance. And licking the Dark Mark on her arm!!!

- IT'S PROBABLY FULL OF NARGLES. I liked that whole scene, with Cedric's picture on the mirror - the way Harry and Cho can never quite escape Cedric's ghost.

- I have to admit, I giggled a LOT at all the sexual innuendo. 'We've been at it for hours! If I could just have a break...'

- [livejournal.com profile] read_hp has a discussion thread on the movie, and I'm not trying to belittle anyone's opinions, but it feels like the complaints about this movie are so trivial compared to the complaints about the other movies. I can't understand how people can complain about the editing on this one and NOT the editing on GoF, either, with its weirdly schizophrenic scene changes. There's just a lot of complaints that are like 'this line wasn't there, we didn't see enough of that.' Also, why can no-one spell the names of the characters and spells?! Aren't we supposed to be fans? Is Kreacher REALLY that difficult?

- Two gripes: It would've been nice to see Harry's Quibbler interview, though taking that out for time made sense. I just like Luna getting to be the hero, and Umbridge's reaction. Also, is right after he's just had quite a disturbing vision of his best friend's father being violently attacked REALLY the best moment for Harry to have his first Occlumency lesson?!

WTF NOOOOOOOOO. IMDb says Steve Kloves will adapt the next two movies. WHYYY? Goldenberg was so GOOD!

Okay, let's hit it: Order of the Phoenix Press Conference, June 24

I love him.

Order of the Phoenix Press Conference, London, July 2

Wow. Emma sure looks...grown up...in that outfit.

Does Rupert's shirt say 'God Save the Dean, but Don't Forget the Dan'? Wha?

Order of the Phoenix London Premiere, 3 July

TALLEST BOY EVAR.

His acne is starting to look a little better.

This girl is SO cute. And looks NOTHING like the girl playing Parvati.

...who scares me a little.

GORGEOUS.

LOL I love this picture.

What is that on a finger, a boulder?!

Still cooler than everybody else.

OMG SO CUTE. He's buried in fans :D

Order of the Phoenix Paris Premiere, 4 July

She looks so pretty in this picture. I really like this dress.

Hand Foot and Wand Ceremony, LA Walk of Fame, 9 July

I love this jacket.

Still think Heyman has a crush on him.

IF THEY WERE ANY CUTER I WOULD COMBUST. Look at them, comparing wand sizes! Bless.

Emma dressed rather appropriately for the occasion. I can see this going really badly for her if she had chosen to wear something different.

Hee, butts.

It's like a game, match the right shoes to the right feet.

Looks like Dan and Rupert actually have pretty similarly sized hands and feet.

as;flkjshdfs;dlkfsd;flk adorable.

The oppressive mood, dark colour palette and sadder music totally fit the mood of this book.

THAT was what I was trying to articulate in my review but didn't have the brains to do so!

OMG. HARRY AND HIS TWO DADDIES! Somewhere a fangirl with a bad grasp of the English language will try to write that fanfic.

Do you plan to watch it again?

I'm seeing it again next Tuesday, on cheap day. And possibly the Tuesday after that. And the one after that, too.

Steve Kloves is, like, an anti-gay Harry/Hermione shipper and Ron hater, or something.

And a yes to this as well!

Thanks for the picspam!

I'm all for Neville/Luna!!

Is there a reason why they didn't go with Kloves for OotP? Other than the obvious being that he sucks. I'm just wondering if he was already busy with something else and that would be why they're bringing him back? ugh, I just hope imdb is wrong. I haven't seen the movie yet, but from what I've heard, they'd be better to stick with Goldenberg.

Fantastic picspam!! That last picture is awesome!

I don't know, but Kloves should be fired. And possibly put in the stocks for a few days for crimes against humanity. Or...Pottermanity.

Pretty pretty picspam!

1. Rupert was excellent - I'm so glad that they let him be brave and stand up to giants and peer pressure. Adding the whimper to his voice was a good idea to bridge from the former fraidy-cat persona to the real strong Ron who doesn't put up with a lot of nonsense. For this reason, I wished they'd included the parts with Percy's defection, his letter to Ron, etc. Just to give us more Weasley time (more Fred and George too!)

2. Much heavier, yes, I'm glad it wasn't glossed over. Though, saying that, as I brought my 11 year old to see it, I'm glad they didn't have a really graphic snake attack either.

3. Aberforth & goat was funny. I was hoping it would be Michael Gambon in a different costume. It wasn't as if we got a good look at him anyway - they could have saved money hiring fewer actors!

4. Dumbledore's getaway was great - and he didn't have to stupefy Dawlish or anything. Kingsley didn't have the line in the book, did he? Maybe they couldn't figure out how to make the painting of Phineas talk. Anyway - they wouldn't have dared throw away that line!

5. I liked the family tree painted on the walls. I did miss the shrieking portrait, though. Especially as they showed Kreacher polishing the nameplate of the hidden painting, I was just waiting for it to let loose and scream.

6. I'm not too hung up on ships, but I'm glad they put away the Harry/Hermione hints because it just isn't happening, people!

7. Gary Oldman was excellent and I did gasp when he called Harry "James", it made me feel sad for him really - but I felt that way for Sirius in the book, too - he so wanted Harry to fill that emptiness in his life.

8. HBC was weird spooky scary as Bellatrix. I wonder if licking the Dark Mark was suggested to her by Tim Burton.

9. Nargles! I need to go back and read OotP again, it's been a couple of years.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

1. I can understand why they'd leave that out, though, it's not really all that relevant to the plot.

4. Maybe they just didn't want to pay the Phineas actor to talk ;) giving it to Kingsley worked, though, it gave him more to do.

6. GOLDENBERG > KLOVES. I should make that an icon or something.

awwww! those pictures are really cute! they're all so .... cool! and I had the exact same thought about the dress Emma was wearing for the handprints! lol

There should be a petition or something asking for Kloves to stay away from all things Potter. I HATE HIM SO MUCH. I can understand the giving-of-lines-to-Hermione, because she's his favorite character, but he turned Ron into a stupid, scared, wussy boy and he's not that. THIS is Ron, the one in this movie. I don't even want to imagine what he'll do with him and Lav-Lav, just argh.

And you're right, he's anti-gay and totally on the Hermione/Harry train. Asshole.

This post killed me! In the best way possible. <3Sirius and <3 Trio

Did anyone else gasp out loud when Sirius called Harry 'James' in the battle, just before he died?

I did! I was really loud. I must have scared the person sitting next to me. :-P

And I hate the some of the reasons why people disliked the movie. I mean, yeah, on the other hand you are more than welcome to your opinion. But complaints about cutting stuff out? Hello! That's how it is for ALL the movies. I honestly think OOTP is the best so far. And the directing? Phenomenal. I have no idea why people had a problem with it. I'm glad Yates is directing HBP.
