Check it out: a Harry Potter-free entry!
From the land of Japan, provider of crack interviews and the strangest performances known to man, I bring you a performance of tiny pirates for Johnny Depp, who is adorable and sweet and probably as befuddled as I was.
LolBuffy! Very cute.
Grunberg's 41, so
canadian_turtle made him a birthday spam.
Tonight I saw Don't Look Now
Being a film geek, I already knew about the 'beware of dwarfs in red raincoats!' ending, so I guess most of the surprise element was taken away. The movie was really well put-together, interestingly shot with great 70's style cuts, and the cast was fantastic - I adore Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie is luminous, and together they're even better. Nobody does a grieving dad quite like Sutherland. The film was also successful in making Venice a character in the film, beautiful and decaying; a lot of films try to get that sense of a place as a character and don't quite make it. I don't know whether or not it's just because I knew what would happen, but I felt like I sort of missed the point of this film. Maybe it's just because I've been told it's a classic, but I wasn't really feeling the whole psychic/religious thing, and the creepiness of every single character that wasn't the central couple. The silence and random music was kind of jarring, too. I liked that the mystery wasn't quite absolved at the end, that it still felt strange and off, but I still wasn't quite feeling it.

...I lied. But don't we all need help grieving Harry Potter?

Hugging Elijah after his final LotR scene. WOE.
