Dude, the Supernatural fandom is exploding with babies. Also, in a TOTALLY SHOCK MOVE that I NEVER SAW COMING, Kripke said the new characters won't ruin the show. Will wait and judge for myself, kthxbai. Some other guy attempted to rationalise. Did anyone show him the crappy character breakdowns? *sigh*

Binball! Highly addictive.

ETA: I must have missed these when I was out of commission post-Potterdammerung, but wow, these Blue Sun posters are amazing. I love that they're gorgeous and interesting, but have a hint of fascist propaganda about them.

Hairspray isn't coming out here until SEPTEMBER THIRTEENTH, PEOPLE. I've never been so tempted to download a movie and watch it ahead of time in my LIFE.

Stop your sobbing! More Potter to come. Maybe we'll find out WHAT HAPPENS TO LUNA! I could not be more excited about this; my favourite part of the books has always been the brilliant characterisation, so an encyclopedia of characters is the perfect thing for me. I can't wait to read it.

AFJHSDF:LKJS OMG. I never really liked PotterPuffs before, but the Deathly Hallows ones are ADORABLE. Okay, so I only said that because of the first one.

I don't think I explained I know that Dumbledore's portrait is hanging in the Headmaster's Office at Hogwarts. We have to assume, however, that the specific plans for moving Harry were hatched after Dumbledore's death, or at least CHANGED once they found out Snape killed Dumbledore or Snape would betray them and tell the plans to the Death Eaters, right? OK, so, HOW DOES DUMBLEDORE KNOW? He can't have known BEFORE he died, because then he would have told Snape. He has to have found out afterwards, somehow.

If Snape knew them, how did HE know? There's no indication that he spoke to Mundungus BEFORE Confunding him to tell him about the multiple Potters, so if that's how he found out it's an oversight.

Confirmed casting for Half-Blood Prince - I don't know HOW people can call it a spoiler, since there will be posters and interviews and stuff EVERYWHERE when the movie comes out, but eh. Naomi Watts seemed way too young at first, but then I discovered she's 39 - which would make her about 23 when Draco was born. She's also only 2 years younger than Helena Bonham Carter, who's playing her sister, so it pretty much makes sense. There's never been anything in the books stating that she and Lucius were the same age anyway.

I don't know who Joseph Fiennes and Stuart Townsend are playing. I'd hazard a guess at Joseph for young!Voldemort or Tom Riddle Sr., given that he's Ralph's brother. Stuart I can't even guess at though.

My take on the Dumbledore thing, Dumbledore tells Snape that he will have to give Voldemort the correct date of Harry's departure..I don't think that there were any specific plans, but DD knew that theywould be moving Harry and that it would be in Snape's best interest to give Voldemort the correct information. Maybe he thought that Snape would have given a false date or something. idk. I didn't really read much into it so that's what I cameup with initially.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Well, okay, but how did Snape and Dumbledore know the date? I mean, if Snape had known it before Dumbledore died they would've changed it.

From: [identity profile] superfrayed.livejournal.com

I don't think DD every knew it, and Snape found out the date when he met Mundungus at the Tavern and suggested the decoys. Or so I had assumed.

From: [identity profile] truffle-shuffle.livejournal.com

Maybe Dumbledore was assuming the date would be Harry's birthday? Or maybe McGonagall told Dumbles the date and he told Snape?

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

[livejournal.com profile] superfrayed's explanation makes more sense, if only because the portraits of the former Heads are duty-bound to serve the current Head, even if they don't like or mistrust them - Phineas Nigellus had to serve Dumbledore, didn't he? So there was no guarantee that Dumbledore would be able to keep information from Snape.

There's plenty of time before Harry's birthday that the date could have been.

Naomi Watts does look younger. I don't like her, period. Haha. I wanted someone with a more distinguished look, I suppose. Like Cate Blanchett. But whatever.

I didn't know about the other people being cast! AHHHHHHH. Interesting.

From: [identity profile] mellafe.livejournal.com

I know, but I still wanted her. And she can do the accent, anyway. I think they just don't want Americans in it.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

I'm pretty sure they're quite specific about only hiring British actors, I remember reading about it at the start. The Brits are really protective of Harry Potter.

Supernatural babies? Whaaat? I'm guessing fans of the show are having babies...

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Yes, there's a bunch of pregnant fans, one fan gave birth today or yesterday and a couple of others had relatives who just had babies.

I think Naomi is a fantastic choice! But, yeah, she does seem a bit young, if only because they've so far cast much older people for the Marauders-era characters. Now that we finally know how old Harry's parents were when they died, Snape should have been in his early thirties in the first movie. As much as I think Alan Rickman is wonderful, I do sometimes wish that they had gone a bit younger with the actor, because it seems to have done a domino effect with the rest of the actors where they've all been pushed up in age from their characters to fit in.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

I can't wish they cast younger because I love Alan Rickman, Gary Oldman and David Thewlis in their roles.

Hmm. I don't know how much time they would spend on Morfin and Merope Gaunt, but I would guess Morfin for Stuart Townsend. The only other new characters coming to mind for HBP totally don't fit.

From: [identity profile] stufsocker.livejournal.com

Funny, I was thinking Joseph Fiennes would be Morfin and Townsend would be Tom Riddle Sr.
They're both too old to play young!Voldy.

I've been wondering about the Merope casting too. I'd go for Emily Watson or Samantha Morton. They both have the features and big eyes to do a convincing put-upon roll.

Someone once posted their idea for Marvolo and Morfin and I STILL think it's brilliant: Peter O'Toole and Rhys Ifans.

I thought they had a British-only casting policy and Naomi's Australian! (Although I'm reading she was born in the UK, at least.) But I can't think of a British actress I would have cast instead, besides Kate Winslet and she's even younger! Hmm. Rachel Weisz, as a blonde? ;)

I've read spec that Stuart might be playing Fenrir.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

She was born in the UK and moved to Australia when she was...8 or something? I think she's still got British citizenship.

He's WAY too young to play Fenrir, Fenrir's supposed to have bitten Remus as a kid.

From: [identity profile] truffle-shuffle.livejournal.com

According to The Leaky Cauldron, those casting rumors are false. Hm. Naomi would make a good Narcissa. I hope that happens. Though, she's ready to pop with her baby, so she may not be available in September to start filming. ...Though, Narcissa is only in one scene, so...maybe she can?

From: [identity profile] alanna-zero.livejournal.com

We're getting Hairspray here in September, too. That's torture and I CAN'T WAIT. It's still so far away :(

From: [identity profile] missmomoko.livejournal.com

If Joseph Fiennes is playing...Tom Riddle jnr...I'll be a little sad because Christian Coulson was HAWT!!

I like Naomi Watts but she doesn't seem as icy as I would have wanted her. I prefer someone like Kirsten Scott Thomas!

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

They've already confirmed in an interview that Christian Coulson isn't come back.

From: [identity profile] stufsocker.livejournal.com

Oooooh KST... good one.

Yea, I don't know who to believe though I did read the Leaky Cauldron news that these were all false reports. Doh.

From: [identity profile] forecastisrayne.livejournal.com

I was thinking all the way through HBP and DH that Naomi Watts would end up being Narcissa... And whaddayaknow...
