Does anyone have The Gambler by Kenny Rogers?

Also, does anyone know why it's so freakin' popular all of a sudden? Or WTF is up with the Ready Steady Cook audiences lately, for that matter?

Anyway, I'm putting together music for my mother's birthday party the weekend after next, and I need loads of party music that will be recognisable for people between the ages of 18 and 60. What should I have on it?

Neil Diamond. Definately Neil Diamond. Yup thats the only suggestion I have.

Is it this one?

And Billy Joel is good. Elton John, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen.

Brown-eyed Girl by Van Morrison. The Beatles.

That's the one, thankyou! And thanks for the suggestions. Fortunately I have all of them in my music collection. I'm gonna not wonder what that says about me.

I have all of them in my music collection, too. :-D I've got really eccentric taste in music. One day I'll be bopping along to an obscure band like Dispatch then singing along to songs from Prince or something then skipping to the High School Musical soundtrack the next day.

I think that might be Kenny Rogers you're after rather than Kenny Loggins. ;)

DAAAAAAAMN.

That reminds me, I saved one of the Hairspray icons of him that you made and I haven't added it to my icons yet. I need to do that.

The Gambler

you still need it? i think i have it somewhere - I don't know why it's popular now - is it popular? I haven't heard it since... my second dragon*con

oh it was popular with me back then. We were in the buffy track room at dragon*con...mel and i were tired and were about to leave when.... Jewel Staite and her entourage walks in. (Yes, she had an entourage.) Everyone swamps her then her husband (then fiance maybe?) Matty runs up to the front of the room (very drunk) jumps on a table, grabs a microphone, starts slowly bending his knees up and down and he says "everyone do this" to the two of us staring at him instead of jewel. Then he breaks into (with no accompaniment) The Gambler...

It was the most surreal thing I had ever seen and I missed Jewel because of it but ... I think it was worth it.

I've had the song in my head ever since.

Re: The Gambler

It's possible it's just an Australian thing, this sudden Gambler popularity. And [livejournal.com profile] frances_veritas gave it to me, thanks!
