Tonight I watched Dreamgirls
I can't believe they actually finished the movie with a montage that was essentially an Oscars montage. That's a whole new level of entitlement. I'll say that the movie probably deserved the Oscars it got, though. I really enjoyed it - I liked the arc of it, how it peaked in the middle and then came down from there. Jennifer Hudson was great, but I feel terrible for Anika Noni Rose, who did quite a good job and got shafted in favour of Jennifer and Beyonce. Beyonce was...bland. Beyond bland. I liked the double meaning the film was given in the context of Destiny's Child, but she's just boring. Eddie Murphy was cool, though, and Jamie Foxx did a pretty good job in a hard role. The music was good, the costumes and cinematography amazing - the use of grit vs. glamour and colour through the decades is spectacular, and I love the lighting. Not sure about all the orange & brown, though I suppose it's period-appropriate.
OMG HINTON BATTLE! I saw JKras, too, you lot will be pleased to know ;) And Missouri, who will forever be Missouri now because a) that's a catchy name and b) that role has etched its way into my mind. I hate her, but still.
8 out of 10 - I actually took a point off because of the wankerish self-promotion.

...self-explanatory.
64 - I don't sing no back-up

Why is Ginnifer Goodwin in that picture...?
