Okay, kiddies, it's time for Muhney Week to celebrate the upcoming Muhneycon (also starring Ellen Muth of Dead Like Me and Elisabeth Rohm, Mercedes McNab and Christian Fucking Kane of Angel). To start the week off, we have the first of three Lambspams! Somewhat like Piz Week, but with one post for each season.

We first meet our dear beloved Sheriff Don Lamb in the very first episode of the very first season of Veronica Mars, being none too happy when he's called away from his comfy office for something silly like, oh, I don't know, a robbery. He therefore leads Wallace, our hero Veronica's soon-to-be-bff, right past the biker gang he snitched on so they could all see him.

He then showed Wallace the two guys who paid him a dollar for all the beer they bought and demands to know if their claims that they paid him were true. He then berates Wallace for pressing the alarm bell. Wallace, of course trying to protect his own ass from the BIKER GANG, says it was an accident.

'You need to go see the wizard. Ask him for some guts.'
(By the way, I had totally forgotten that we see Wallace flying a model plane on the beach in the pilot, tying in with season 3. How cute!)

Our next view of Lamb was as deputy to Keith's Sheriff, being somewhat useless and looking rather uncomfortable at Lilly Kane's murder scene.

Another flashback, another bungled handling of a crime; this time, the drugging and raping of Veronica at a party, which Sheriff Lamb treats with all the gravitas and respect such an accusation warrants.

Or possibly not. 'Is there anyone in particular you want me to arrest, or do you want me to just round up the sons of the most important families in town?'

'Why don't you go see the wizard, ask him for a little backbone?' Nice guy.

The final appearance of Lamb in the Pilot is of him appearing in court to testify against the kids who robbed Wallace...

only to be foiled by our intrepid hero, who switched the surveillance tapes with tapes of one of his men getting a blow job in a cop car. Nice.

We get to see Lamb again in the second episode of season 1, intimidating Weevil with his superior...well, height, which is probably the only area in which he's superior, but arresting Weevil's grandmother (like the sweetheart he is.)

He then interrupts Mars family time, and Keith points out that there's an escaped killer on the loose while Lamb gallivants

and Lamb points out that the anniversary of Lilly's murder is coming up. Keith and Lamb exposition at each other a bit

until Lamb rubs in the fact that they disproved Keith's theory and leaves, while Veronica shoots a fiery retort of 'smell ya later' at his back. (I mean, really?)

Don is not overly thrilled when Keith shows up later at the Sheriff's office, escaped con in tow.

His arrogance kinda doesn't hold up when Keith has a friendly chat with the receptionist either.

He's even less thrilled when Veronica shows up, but finds nothing suspicious about her paying off a ticket

until he discovers that she's paying it as Miss Kane.

In spite of the ludicrously high crime rates in Neptune, we don't see our Sheriff again until episode 11, curiously entitled 'Silence of the Lamb', in which Don is forced to go to old boss Keith for help.

He doesn't want a banana.

LOL HIS FACE.

He proceeds to do some inferior sherrifing next to Keith

but tries some one-upmanship anyway.

They investigate, and Don is once again proven inferior

but pretty.

More investigating, more of Keith showing Lamb who's boss.

I love the faces Muhney makes. They're adorable.

He notices a bunch of clues inside

and gets cranky when Keith pulls them out early. 'You don't make the decisions around here! I'm the Sheriff! And if you keep it up I'm telling Mommy!' Nice camera flare on this one.

Lamb goes back later to get the clues. Which are video tapes.

Man, the Film Noir lighting with the blinds in this shot is awesome. Uh, or possibly...look, pretty, and something about plot. Blah blah blah, Lamb's arrogant. Again.

Then he starts his interrogation technique, which, I have learnt from putting this spam together, usually consists of 1. Intimidation, and

2. Making funny faces. This is another great shot.

He thinks they've got the perp nailed and shoots Keith down when Keith makes brings up some perfectly legitimate doubts, bringing up the Kane case again, because we all know that never gets old.

He is, of course, proven wrong in the nastiest of ways, with another missing girl's mother showing up.

Poor, confused Lamb.

Keith is there to save the day

and they get new clues that point them to the real culprit.

Lucky us, we get a double dose of Lamb with an appearance in 1.12 as well

intimidating students to find out who's making fake IDs.

Guess who gets the blame?

Of course! Veronica, having not made the fake IDs, is fairly confident that she doesn't have fake IDs in her locker.

Lamb is fairly confident that she does

and lo and behold, fake IDs!

In what we will come to know as tried & true Lamb style, he arrests her right there in school

taking her for a walk of shame for all her classmates to see. (Kristen and Muhney have great chemistry in this scene.)

We don't see him again until the end of the episode, when Veronica surprises him with donuts and the rather remarkable exclamation that the real ID maker will turn himself in by the end of the day.

Lamb is well-lit and skeptical

but lo and behold, Veronica nails the perp and gives Lamb the proof written on a hundred-dollar bill: 'Veronica Mars is...smarter than me.'

The last episode for this spam (finally, because it's way past my bedtime) is the last episode of season 1, episode 22: 'Leave it to Beaver', in which our series-long 'who killed Lilly Kane' case is finally solved. He shows up at the Echolls residence on a hot tip about hiding things in the vents

and faces off with Aaron.

He then has Logan arrested and interviews him:

1. Intimidation

2. Funny faces

all wrapped up with some token arrogance.

We next find him eating and giving Keith the brush-off. I like that he tells Keith that he's pretty sure Logan is dating Veronica. Awesome.

Last shot of the Sheriff: at the arrest of Lilly's murderer, confronted once again with her grieving family and standing around. Good stuff, Sheriff.
If anyone out there has or frequents any Veronica Mars, Angel or Dead Like Me sites, it would be awesome if you could let people know about the upcoming Hub convention! October 27th in Sydney, 28th in Melbourne, with truly awesome guests.
