Not a real post tonight, aiming to be in bed by 1 and got home late for reasons I will explain in this post.
Supernatural deleted scenes! Will check them out later, but at this stage I've got 3 eps of Heroes, 3 eps of Veronica Mars, 3 Dom interviews and now 2 eps of Lost to catch up on and I'm so frakking busy at the moment.
The reason I got home so late? Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Before I start the review, I want to say that (even though I really enjoyed the movie) the best part of my night was seeing a Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix cardboard...poster stand thing, with Sirius and Tonks and Remus and Ron and Luna and BELLATRIX on it. As well as Harry, Hermione, Dumbledore, Cho, Ginny, Voldemort, Lucius and some death eaters. It's massive and gorgeous and I WANT IT. I spent ages just staring at it. It is beautiful. Added to that I got to see the international trailer before the movie and nearly died of excitement. I also still desperately want that Sirius & Bellatrix poster, anyone know where they're available?
Pirates! I thought it was a really interesting end to the series. I like that they didn't go too predictable, with everything ending happily ever after - a cycle was starting again. The movie had its dodgy and draggy moments, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. I loved seeing Mullroy and Murtogg again, and what happens to them is a real treat. The comedy is fantastic, and there are these brilliant slapstick moments in the middle of dramatic scenes, plus the 9 pieces of 8 stuff that's terrific. The movie doesn't shy away from the grisly, dark moments as well as some really gorgeous ones - the journey to World's End is just breathtaking, as is their concept of Davey Jones' Locker, and the ships are finally done justice to. Johnny Depp is on top form as Jack, but comes close to having scenes stolen from him by Geoffrey Rush, who relishes every opportunity to chew the scenery, possibly because he didn't get ton in the second. I like what they did with almost all the characters (even Keira's, who's had me in two minds in the past), although I wanted to like the Tia Dalma plot, particularly the end of it, more than I did. They more than make up with it with Norrington, who lends the most dramatic weight to the movie. There was an interesting tragic, romantic plot there that I felt could've been given more weight. There's some great set pieces but they aren't as done to death as they felt in Dead Man's Chest. Even Orli was pulling his weight, with some - gasp - subtle comedic touches. Finally, the five or so minutes of Keith Richards screen time? SO WORTH THE WAIT. Even with a somewhat cheesy post-credits scene, the magic couldn't be denied.
ETA: Dude, I knew that I recognised Chow Yun Fat's first mate! It's Agent Kim from Prison Break!
