I'm so deeply not impressed by this. Supernatural is a solid rater for their station and could be a hit show for them if they PROMOTED the damn thing, but they're lazy and don't think they need to, so they're getting the fans to promote it FOR them? It's like Serenity. Watch it come back and bite you on the ass, fans.
Also not impressed with my life.
I went to the video store today and Gilmore Girls was on, and Milo was making an appearance randomly in like...the last season or something and I got distracted and watched it for about 40 minutes. It was lucky I didn't get a parking ticket. Watched more Coupling, good god that show is hilarious. Side-splittingly funny.
Some pretty Torchwood icons.
Does anyone have the shoot with this Rupert Grint image in it? It's gorgeous.
Auctions to support the writers' strike! I would SO bid on the Shannon doll. I mean, I have one, but not SIGNED! No money, though :(
Caps of Muhney on CSI: Miami being all GUH. Does that mean I have to watch an episode of that crapfest? Oh well, I suppose it does have Lucas. 'What's up with today, today?'
Videos for me to watch when I get broadband speed back: Firefly fanvid, Cheyenne Jackson and Jai Rodriguez doing the even gayer version of the Elephant Love Medley, Iantooooooooooo.
So, hey, guess what I saw tonight?
You guys, this is so fucking good. It is top notch. The characters have so much depth and the actors pull them off so perfectly, even the more unusual choices - I was expecting the main three to be amazing, but Woody Harrelson was a sharp, funny surprise as well. Josh Brolin carries the movie well and Tommy Lee Jones is world-weary but funny and remarkably likeable. Kelly McDonald is really good and affecting as Brolin's wife as well (and her accent holds up really well considering she's Scottish.) The movie is so scary and real and visceral, what with its lack of music and sharp, hard colours. What really stood out for me visually was the lighting, though. There are lots of hard shadows and light that gets into every crack and some gorgeous twilight/sunrise shots that killed me. It's INCREDIBLY moody and tense, the film is note-perfect in creating tension and then breaking it in just the right places to shock you when it comes back.
No joke, though, Javier Bardem is so scary in this. Just seeing the front of his car makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck, and his presence is enough to make you shiver. It's a slow, quiet film but you don't get a chance to back off the edge of your seat. It's PERFECTLY shot, with interesting angles but not a one out of place. Bah! I love it.
For those in the know btw, I just typed 'Jonas' instead of 'Jones' - one track mind much? Also, I knew I recognised the wife's mother! SOMETIMES I DOUBT YOUR COMMITMENT TO SPARKLE MOTION.
