Torchwooooooooooood! Firstly, OMG THE TITLE. It's like a convergence of boykissing awesome.

They gave James Marsters SO many great lines, and I love all the rampant flirting. He was like...uber-Spike, and even better HE'S COMING BACK (yay!). Don't so much love all the exposition dialogue they threw in to 'normal conversation'.

Best bits: Boykissing. James Marsters. JACK ASKED IANTO ON A DATE. IANTO STILL HAS THE STOPWATCH. And that preview, in which Owen proposes an orgy at the end of the world.

Why are they pushing Jack/Gwen? At least they're giving Ianto something to do now.

Also, did everyone manage to get prettier while they were gone or am I just desperately missing my shows?

Some moderately good news to come out of the strike: it looks like Sci-Fi is putting 'Caprica' into production.

My internet connection's frakked, so no Dom dose today.

I do love me some eye candy

I thiiink the Jack/Gwen nonsense was a stupid concession to all the media clamoring about "JACK AND GWEN: WILL THEY OR WON'T THEY?!" Clearly these people are stuck in their obnoxious heteronormative worlds and can't even appreciate the beautiful blossoming romance between Jack and Ianto. So I think Russel T. Davies and co just wanted to shut that faction up? So they went to that place, then immediately put the kibosh on it. Or at least i hope they did, and we won't get any more of that crap. I still despise Gwen, bleugh. I mean, she said yes to Rhys because no one else will have her? Really? Ughhh.

BUT BUT BUT. DATE! DAAAATE! ALONG WITH THE CUTEST LITTLE YES IN THE WORLD. OH, IANTO. I also randomly loved John calling Ianto "eyecandy," heehee. There was so much GLEE packed into this episode! I can't wait for mooore :D

I have to admit that I like the idea of Jack/Gwen. I don't really know why though.
But actually I ship Jack/everyone, well except for Jack/Owen. I really hate Owen.

BOYKISSING FTW!!

I was just talking to my friend about James. We were both like "OMG HE LOOKS SO OLD!"
Then I looked at Imdb and we were both shocked that he is 45 already. And then we were both like "DAMN. HE LOOKS GOOD FOR 45!" LOL

Jack/Gwen didn't work for me at all. It worked at the beginning of season 1 - you know, gun training and all that *cough* at least I saw some chemistry and it made sense - but then it's like they dropped that angle altogether what with the Gwen/Owen and Gwen/Rhys angst and just when you think she's learnt her lesson and is going to finally appreciate her boyfriend whom he apparently loves so very much (but I am not seeing it!)... the whole Jack/Gwen UST comes back from nowhere. MEH.

Also, I am sort of shipping Jack/Ianto now. What can I say, Ianto is really quite irresistible now that he finally has a personality.

And the trailer! Owen's "let's all have sex" and Ianto's reaction killed me - I think they are my favourite characters now. How on Earth did that happen?

PLEASE NO JACK/GWEN. PLEASE. You know, I could stop watching it if they do. Or maybe not, but I'd vomit during every episode.

I loved this episode so hard, so many great lines ! Not to mention all the squee-iness e.g:
"So why did you come back ?"
"I came back for you."

(and let's forget he ruined everything by adding "For all of you.")

It's pissing me off really badly that they're pushing the Jack/Gwen pairing again.

'cause no one will have me'? Don't tempt him, sweetheart, I think he moved on when he saw that. Well. I want him to at least.

I don't actually dislike Gwen...just when she's all 'I love Jaaaaack. Jack is so mysteeeerious.' The rest of the time I like her. She's gorgeous.

OMG Ianto was awesome in this episode. He is totally my favorite character, and he was so adorably jealous of John Hart. I love Ianto.

I could do without Jack/Gwen too. If they're going to have Rhys around still, they better not keep him on as the boyfriend/fiance-who-inevitably-gets-the-shaft-but-not-before-there-is-considerable-sexual-tension. That just annoys me.

I have to admit, the rest of the season looks pretty darn awesome. Way better than last season. I am excited.

He is totally my favourite too. He's so damn funny. And ridiculously attractive.

They established Jack as omnisexual and non-monogamous way back in "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances." It's out of character and pandering to a militant gay agenda fringe to only show him interested in same-sex relationships -- not that bisexuals don't have to take that sort of crap all the time from both the homo and hetero extremes of the spectrum.

It's not out of character for Gwen either, since they established in season one that she doesn't really take the concept of monogamy all that seriously either. Nothing but lip service -- "oh, I love Rhys! I love him almost enough to not cheat on him with whatever sleaseball at work who hits on me. Some day I may even show my love for him by taking his emotional needs seriously or showing him the same level of trust I show to the pizza delivery girl!"

I liked her in the first episode. Now I hold her in as much contempt as I do the rest of them. Well, except for Owen. I don't hold anyone in as much contempt as I do Owen.

It's presumptuous of you to assume that I don't like Jack/Gwen because it isn't gay. I can see Jack/Martha, I was fine with the arc about Jack and that fairy woman, I've got no issues with Jack being omnisexual. I just don't see why Jack and Gwen have to have this deep love connection the show is pushing just because they're the main characters. I have no delusions that Jack will stay with Ianto because they are OTP and PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER FOR EVER OMG.

Basically, I just don't like Jack/Gwen.

The way Jack's character was originally established, omnisexual and voracious, he likes (or at leasts lusts after) everyone. You said it was out of character for him to be interested in Gwen, but it's not -- his default is interest in everyone, and you need to establish reasons for him to make an exception for any given individual in order to claim logically that it's out of character for him to not be interested in that person. His interest in Ianto establishes that workplace rules about fraternization aren't such a reason. His interest in anyone on the show establishes that emotional immaturity isn't a turnoff for him either. He doesn't believe in monogamy so her pre-existing relationship also isn't a reason for him to avoid a relationship to her. She has flaws -- many flaws -- plenty for me to not want to touch her with a 10 foot pole -- but those flaws don't bother Jack. So what is out of character about them hooking up?

And my opening comment about Jack's omnisexuality was a response to the comment about people being "stuck in their obnoxious heteronormative worlds and can't even appreciate the beautiful blossoming romance between Jack and Ianto." Consider my comments in light of the entire conversation.
