I'm not doing the strike, not because I'm opposed to it - I think basic accounts are good - but because I think there are better ways to protest, and because I like LJ too much. I'm going to be doing some work on my journal tomorrow, hopefully.
I kind of miss Mitchell. It's stupid, he's around, but he's been busy lately and whenever I see him it has to be with an entourage or for a meeting. Having no bff time is lonely :(
Getty images of the Buffy cast at Paley, incredibly lucky Leish's report, amd the Whedonesque post linking to a bunch more reports. Seth Green and Amber Benson, I love you.
Muhney's movie One Night has been added to film festivals in Florida and Buffalo if anyone can go, I'm sure it'd be a riot.
I got to go to two movies today, the first in the afternoon with my family: Death Defying Acts
Guy Pearce got buff. This was a gorgeously shot movie - some of the shots of Catherine Zeta-Jones took my breath away, they were so lovely and rich and well-framed - and the plot was intriguing, but not fascinating. Saoirse Ronan remains a really impressive young actress, her character in this is quite far removed from Briony but she hat spunk and verve. The embellishment of historical events jarred a little with me, and Catherine Zeta-Jones and Guy Pearce both played characters I found it hard to get a hold on. Surprisingly, I felt myself sympathising most with Timothy Spall's character - he was very good in this. I was also hoping for a more cynical, punchier ending, but I felt like it lost steam at the end. Still, amazing period work and again, a really beautiful movie. Plus, it's always good to see female directors.

Then tonight I went with a whole bunch of my friends to see Be Kind Rewind
This wasn't really funny. It was a very sweet movie, and Michel Gondry has a great visual style that I really enjoy. The thing that felt off about the movie, I think, is that it felt like a lot of the stuff that wasn't the actual reshooting (or Sweding, one of the best jokes in the movie) of the films felt like it was adlibbed. Jack Black did his usual Jack Black shtick, and Mos Def sort of...mumbled his way through a sweet enough role. Mia Farrow was gorgeous, I loved every moment that she was on screen, and the film shoots were a riot and marvelously inventive, so that's well worth seeing the movie for.
