Joss Whedon hopes to tease fans into buying DVDs of his musical. That struck me as quite nasty. I mean, of course we're going to download it for free, but it's not like he made this for the opportunity to make a heap of money, and there'll still be loads of people willing to buy the DVDs. On top of that, word of mouth will probably help, and she's off on the 'there weren't enough truefans of Firefly to save it with DVD sales' comment, because the DVD sales came out so long after the show was already cancelled and sold enough to get a movie made.

Tonight I went to the movies with the gay boys and saw Get Smart

I enjoyed this movie quite a bit, it got way more real laughs out of me than I expected from the trailer, but I felt like it really tapered off towards the end. It totally de-powered (that's the wrong word, I can't think of the right one now) 99 from the ballsy chick she was at the beginning, and the final action sequence was...not that great. I felt pretty let down by the last third, enough that it affected the way I feel about the movie - which is a shame, because I really wanted to like it. In the end I was left with a torn feeling - the first part was great, the second part not so great, with an overall score of mediocre. The supporting cast was mostly brilliant, though, they were all really well cast and funny (the villains were pretty fangless, though), and most of the gags paid off - I'm glad it didn't take too familiar a route in exactly remaking the original TV show, instead creating something a bit different.

Hmm, depending on what the fight scene is like, it could be like the book. We only hear about what the DE's have been doing to the Muggle world when we see the Prime Minister. I guess they're showing us instead =]
