[livejournal.com profile] melissajane14 and I are both really, really excited to see Not Quite Hollywood, about the 'Ozploitation' films of the 70's and 80's. The trailer played before a movie we saw yesterday and it looks like the most eye-burningly awesome film documentary in history.

Clues To Lost Season Five: Who's Back, Who's Dead And What Does It Mean? including a last line that shares my sentiments.

Another hilarious Robert Pattinson interview.

New buckshotwon videos: Tongue, Sunday.

[livejournal.com profile] mellafe posted most of the new Half-Blood Prince images that have been released recently; there's a couple more here and here.

20 upcoming movies to get excited about. I refuse to say 'Fall' because A) it's AUTUMN and B) it'll be Spring here anyway.

Okay, couple movie reviews of stuff I saw recently: Lost in Translation

I was expecting to like this a lot more than I did by the time I finally saw it. I don't think it was bad, by any means, but it was more like a series of beautiful still images set to groovy music that conveyed the sense of absurdity and isolation that Tokyo brings to outsiders...with some moving and talking bits in between that did nothing for me. The script just wasn't that good, so that whenever Scarlett and Bill got to talking I found my attention wandering, while I could watch an almost completely stationary shot for a good minute and find plenty to appreciate. Since films are, you know, MOVING pictures and not a photography exhibition, I graded it kinda low.

The Bank Job

Okay, now this I thought was a real gem. It moved fast, with a somewhat complicated plot that would get confusing if you weren't paying attention, but I like that it was a heist-caper flick that had consequences and that you had to work to keep up with. It had a great vintage feel, set in London in 1970, and I finally understand the appeal of Jason Statham. He was rock-solid in this. It's fast-paced and there's some really great lines, but it's also genuinely interesting, particularly knowing that it's at least partly true. The heist itself is nail-biting fun, but the heart really starts racing after the robbery is over. Really good stuff, particularly if you like heist or action movies.

That Lost article is great if for the last line alone.

I'm convinced there isn't one person that watches Lost out there who dislikes Faraday. It warms my heart, lol.

I know, I can't think of another character as universally not-hated. I might even go so far as to say liked.

The RPattz interview was indeed funny: "My dad makes German techno-music." LOL

*flails at pic*

That was pretty much my problem with Lost in Translation. It's really beautiful to look at, but my expectations had been pretty high from all the hype, and then it just kind of went on without any kind of engaging plot. The shots were gorgeous and genuinely interesting, and usually this is enough to keep me watching and liking it, but, yeah. I expected more from it.

Also I really wanna see The Bank Job.

And then he finds this girl who he initially want to devour and then it turns into all consuming love for her, and it’s very difficult for a vampire to be in love with someone he wants to eat all the time.

Ahaha I love him.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've sat through a lot of movies for uni, so I don't think I'm easily bored by a movie, but this one bored me whenever they were talking.

You should. It is awesome.
