I am in 80's music mania over here. My most recent car CD has a BUNCH of 80's music, I keep watching 'The 80's at 8' segment on VH1, and now it's 80's week at
audiography. I am going to make a post. I LOVE 80's music.
I don't get it, why did people not like Josh Groban's bit at the Emmys? I thought it was cute. Much better time-wasting than the awful hosts.
If there are any Spanish Dom fans on my flist, his new film 'I Sell The Dead' will be screened at a festival in Catalonia.
Fox8 now has the Australian rights to Dollhouse instead of Ten, which means it will not be free-to-air. This SUCKS. ENORMOUSLY. Not just for me, but for the show, because cable is not very popular here and the show will never get much momentum over here if it's not free-to-air. SUCKS. NOT HAPPY.
Neil Patrick Harris Emmy interview by Ausiello, who I generally like.
Autumn Fall TV Death Watch: Which New Shows Will Be Canceled First? By the way, I've seen the first couple of Fringe episodes. Can you say new X-Files? Sure, I knew you could. The science is SO FUNNY that I think I will keep watching for it. I swear tonight's gimmick was used in Wild Wild West, of all things. Oh, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I saw Simon Baker on Ellen today and isn't The Mentalist just a Very Dramatic version of Psych?
Tequila with Emmy's red carpet. AHAHAHA. Best ever.
Mischa Collins (Castiel) interviews here and here.
17 Great Pop Culture Cars, 15 TV Shows Where the Music's a Co-Star (how did The L Word make it and Queer as Folk miss out?). Supernatural needs to be on both those lists NOW.
Seriously, only on the internet.
Apparently, the Kung Fu Panda DVD will include a sequel. Gives 'straight-to-DVD' a whole new meaning, doesn't it?
I do believe I haven't reviewed these yet.
WALL·E
I was so excited to see this that I guess I got myself too pumped up, or something. I loved every minute that Wall·e was on the screen, don't get me wrong. The first...oh, half hour or so, right up until they get to the space station, is like a lesson in flawless filmmaking, and it makes talking in movies seem enormously overrated. Everything Wall·e does is a revelation, every little movement or expression, and he made my heart hurt with his fascination with little objects and his Hello, Dolly! obsession (I LOVED THAT MOVIE WHEN I WAS A KID, MY GOD.) I also loved his...well, courting, for lack of a better word, of Eve, who was pretty damn hardcore when she first appeared, but it seems Wall·e can soften anyone's heart. Even robots. Which don't have hearts, theoretically.
It's just that the humans were...well, frankly, I found them silly. Not just really unlikely, but also silly, and I feel like they detracted something from the simple, sweet joy of Wall·e. I felt the message being rammed down my throat, and I didn't appreciate it in the slightest. I wish I didn't feel like I have to take points away for that, but every time they were on screen my attention began to wander, and the auto-pilot stuff was ridiculous. I spent the whole climax wanting Wall·e back already. And the bit where all the people fall one way in the space station? Seriously? Ugh. It's enormously disappointing to me that such a wonderful, beautiful movie was waylaid like that. Fortunately it gets back on track for the ending, which made my heart clench, and the closing credits were creative, if preachy. I loved the 80's video game-style stuff over the later credits. I just feel they could've found a better way to do the human bit.

Nick of Time
Pretty good action thriller to pass the time, with decent everyman Johnny Depp facing off against violent nutter Christopher Walken. The most intriguing thing about this movie is the pre-24 real-time gimmick, which feels a lot more real and driven in this film because of its tight, unrelenting focus on Johnny Depp. Unfortunately the movie also contains a pretty out-there conspiracy plot that raises the eyebrows and suspends disbelief one too many times.
