Tonight I watched Bottle Shock
I don't get wine. When I stick my nose in a wine glass, it smells like wine to me. I like to drink it sometimes, but it pretty much just runs 'the tastes good - it's okay - not that great - blech' spectrum. That said, wine movies are fascinating because people are genuinely obsessed with wine, and obsession always makes for good viewing. This one I downloaded because it stars Eliza Dushku and Alan Rickman, and I found out before I downloaded it that its main star is Chris Pine and it also stars Freddy Rodriguez. What surprised me is that it has a cameo from Bradley Whitford. Add in Ida from The Middleman and you've pretty much got one of the most awesome fandom casts ever. They're all pretty good - I don't know if they were trying to play down Chris's prettiness by giving him the worst hair ever, but it didn't work. All of the youn'uns in this movie are veeery pretty. Rachael Taylor needs work on her American, though.
Okay, the actual movie. It was pretty, and it was easy to watch. Predictable. Fairly sweet. Standout features: I couldn't get behind Bill Pullman because he was mostly just a jerk, and they didn't give him many redeeming features. Chris Pine is pretty, and so is Eliza Dushku. Freddy Rodriguez continues to be underrated and underused. Alan Rickman has the best voice ever. I want to drink some wine.
Also, I went back and looked at my old pictures of Eliza Dushku and there's a ton of her with Chris Pine at Sundance. None with Bradley Whitford, though.

Chris Pine is so pretty, it's ridiculous. I remember working on casting for Bottle Shock. They had a hard time getting people, if I remember correctly, and look who they ended up with! Josh Lyman, Faith, Snape and Captain Kirk!
