Okay, I have a lot to talk about and a little time to talk about it in. Also, I have the sniffles something chronic.
Cute new photo of Dom and Billy at the Indie Spirit Awards, news regarding his (still barely glimpsed) character in 'Wolverine'.

I went to
baldie_troll's on Saturday night with almost all the boys, and we watched Dollhouse together, after which Mitchell and Kyle left and the rest of us watched the BSG final. I prefer watching Dollhouse with Jamie to watching it alone and blogging while I do. It makes it more immediate. I wish Tahmoh would get neighbourly with me. I totally called Mellie being an active! Miracle Laurie pwns. Don't act like you don't know. Everyone has secret ninja skills. They're breaking my heart with the Victor stuff.
I was a little disappointed. I feel like it was a bit too much of a fairytale. I think my favourite moment was Cavill's suicide, because it cracked us all up. I also feel like the coda was a bit preachy and self-indulgent, but yay for head!Six and head!Gaius being the last people we see! I wish Tahmoh would father my half-Cylon child.
How to Steal a Million
This is an old romantic comedy starring Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Toole, wherein they rob a gallery to steal her father's forged statue. There's a lot of set-up that's not overly interesting, but the heist and aftermath are well-handled and exciting, and after seeing the following movie I almost felt like increasing its rating by comparison. Watching Hepburn and O'Toole sparking off each other also made me wonder about the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's could have been if someone better had been cast as the male romantic lead. Very entertaining stuff, and I got to watch it with my Nana.

Just My Luck
Predictable romantic comedy fluff which I only watched because it's got my boy Chris Pine as the romantic lead. I could pretty much predict every single beat of this movie, but both the leads could be terrific - it's possible Lohan's left her best years behind and Pine's are yet to come. Well, they are according to me anyway, because he's just brilliant.

Watchmen
I've flicked through the graphic novel and read a lot about the making of Watchmen, so there weren't a lot of surprises for me in this one. The period scrore was hit-and-miss, as was the casting - Jeffrey Dean Morgan couldn't have been cast more perfectly, and I liked Carla Gugino, Patrick Wilson, and Jackie Earle Haley, but the others felt a bit off. I think this movie only really suffered from slavishly faithful adaptation - the differeing styles that worked in the comic sort of made the film's narrative messy, and the flashbacks at the funeral left me a bit lost and confused every time they went back. I loved the visuals, they were just fantastic, and the slow-motion comic book panel tableaus were clever conceits made brilliant with the depth in each shot. I actually really like the change for the ending, I think it works much better in the 'grittier, more realistic' world comic book movies have as opposed to comic books. I feel like I could have been really interested in Laurie if something about her were just a bit...different. I can't put my finger on exactly what it was - casting, or her lack of agency/romantic triangle, or her dominatrix costume, or a mixture of things - but I found myself more often annoyed with her than interested in her.

Chris Pine would be fantastic playing a tree. Or a piece of furniture. He is fantastic in general, and I SO can't wait for Star Trek right now.

They and Chris Pine got me through that movie. But mostly Chris Pine because I love my McFly boys, but wow they can't act...
