Because I desperately need some good news right now:
Aly and Alexis had their baby, a girl called Satyana.
Ron Moore, Joss Whedon, and Transhumanist TV. Very interesting read.
Stephen Colbert challenges NASA over node name. They make a note that Serenity is also 'coincidentally' the name of the ship in Firefly, like that's not the reason for the number of votes it got.
Supernatural: On the Head of a Pin picspam. Stunning.
'Where the Wild Things Are' trailer caps that I used for my last icons.
The Top Ten Reasons You Should Watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I disagree with a few and would add others, but it's good.
Pretty icons, more pretties, icons by my favourite icon-maker.
I was going to do more links but, surprise surprise, I have to be up earlier than anticipated tomorrow. I kind of hate my life right now.
Last night I saw Easy Virtue
This movie was clever and charming, with a wonderfully non-linear storytelling style and a clever post-modernist concept. It was directed by the director of what I consider to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, Australian movie of all time, Priscilla. So it's kind of disappointing that the weakest thing about it was the visual. The costumes and locations were lovely, but the direction was extremely odd and borderline dodgy in a lot of places - way too many reflections, for instance, and strange shot-counter-shot sequences that made people seem like they were in different rooms.
I thought all of the major cast was fantastic. Jessica Biel was probably in her best role to date and she sparkled in it, and Ben Barnes, Colin Firth, Kristen Scott Thomas (does anyone else always think of Gwendolyn Post when they see her, because Gwendolyn was played by her sister?) and Kris Marshall (Colin, God of Fuck as a butler!) were all brilliantly British and excellent. I WANT that soundtrack, it was genius, especially 'Sex Bomb'. The wit was terrific, and there were some lines that had me rolling around laughing, but the movie took some unexpected turns. I enjoyed it a lot.
