Enhanced TV: Transhumanism and Television.

Star Trek icons and pretty Torchwood: Children of Earth icons. I can't wait to see that.

Proof that I have lost my mind to Star Trek: Tonight I watched Star Trek III: The Search for Spock

Brief summary of this movie: Captain Kirk cries in the turbolift, steals a ship, kills a bunch of Klingons, and gets his son killed to save Spock. Single gayest thing ever.

I am just amazed that his basic reaction to his own son's death is about a minute of "YOU BASTARD!" and a bit of moping, while his reaction to Spock's death is to rant on and on about how he feels Empty Inside and write some emo poetry and then sacrifice his career, his ship and almost his life trying to get Spock back.

This film doesn't stand alone in the slightest - it's a good thing I know the basic story of the film and have watched Spock's death on YouTube repeatedly. It's not even particularly good (although Sulu, McCoy and especially Uhura are FIERCE. FIERCE! I LOVE TOS UHURA.) But it is incredibly gay.

Also, tonight I learned that my mother was a Trekkie when she was younger, and she had a crush on The Shat. I knew I had to get it from somewhere. She can have Kirk Prime and I'll take nu!Kirk. >:D

RE JOHN CHO: I LOVE HIS FIERCE TIES AND BOLD-PATTERNED SHIRTS. ALSO, IT DOESN'T HURT THAT HE'S ASIAN AND I ALREADY HAVE AN ASIAN FIXATION. MMM.

ALSO, I LOVE THAT I STILL FIND CHRIS FIIINE RIDICULOUSLY ATTRACTIVE EVEN IN MAKEUP, A WIG, AND A CHINESE DRESS. X^D

ALSO ALSO, THE FACT THAT I'M OVER-USING THIS ICON TODAY IS TOTES YOUR FAULT.

I DO NOT HAVE, NOR HAVE I EVER HAD, AN ASIAN FIXATION. AND YET...YUM. HOW DOES HE MAKE THAT LOOK GOOD?

ME TOO. HE'S HOT THAT WAY.

YOU MISSED IT SO MUCH WHEN IT WENT AWAY THAT NOW YOU FEEL COMPELLED TO USE IT ALWAYS!

Didn't Kirk only just find out he had a son in the Wrath of Khan? Not that this makes his reaction to his death okay, but he'd really only known him for like five minutes prior to his death.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Ahh, fair enough. I didn't know about that bit, having not seen 'Wrath of Khan' since I was about 12. It's still kind of an underreaction, though, especially compared to his 'THIS SHIP IS BLACK AND EMPTY LIKE MY SOUL' mourning over Spock.

From: [identity profile] grrliz.livejournal.com

I'm wondering if Kirk can only mourn for his son on an intellectual level, having only learned of his existence so late in his life. In Star Trek VI, he talks about how he can never forgive the Klingons for the death of his son but it comes across more as "An injustice has been done to me!" rather than "I am emotionally affected by this!" Also, it could just be Shatner.

Yeah. I also saw absolutely no point to the killing of his kid in this movie. I mean, to some extent it shows the sacrifices Kirk made to get Spock back, but at the same time, given that it has so little emotional impact, that kinda defeats the purpose. Blowing up the ship was a more emotional experience than his son dying. It actually serves to make Kirk look more selfish, going after Spock at the expense of his son because Spock fills some kind of hole in him.

Oh, dirty.

Wait. WHAT. John Cho is THIRTY SEVEN?!!! OMG, he looks like he's 12. And I thought he was late 20's if anything.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

THIS WAS ALSO MY REACTION except for the 12 bit. I was thinking mid-to-late 20's.

Okay, those Chris .gifs remind me of Olive & Chuck in Dim Some Lose Some.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

LOL. LOOOOOL. NOW I AM IMAGINING CHRIS IN OLIVE'S DRESS SINGING 'HOPELESSLY DEVOTED TO YOU'. AND JUMPING ON THE BED. BRB, DYING.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

LOL 'THE HILLS ARE ALIIIIIIVE...'

And swooning over Lee Pace. AND KISSING LEE PACE. NOW I AM DYING FOR ANOTHER REASON ENTIRELY.

The only thing is I'm now picturing Chris Pine as, like, a teeny tiny man. Because Olive is teeny tiny.

::laughs for like a minute straight::

Okay, and I am actually going to get to see the 2nd-to-last PD episode in like half an hour, and now I will not be able to think of anything else.

You've seen Adrian's A Tiny Human Oka video, right?

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Ugh, Hayden Panettiere is really starting to piss me off. Everybody else in that video is so adorable and goofy and she's like "Fuck off. Seriously."

I don't watch the show anymore but damn I love that cast.

OMG Linda was a trekkie! That's brilliant!

The Shat was HAWT in his day. Also, I suspect, crazy, but hot

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

I KNOW. I was like :O NOW I GET IT.

Yeah, he was, but it's hard to look at him even when he was young and hot and not see The Shat and hear 'Common People' playing in my head. Chris Pine, on the other hand...

I adore that picture of Dominic. Even if he looks shitfaced like woah. ;]
