Ugh, this is horrible. U.S. Manga Obscenity Conviction Roils Comics World - a man in the US has been arrested for having MANGA. SERIOUSLY. I don't give a flying fuck what's in the manga, it's a COMIC BOOK. HOW can he be facing FELONY CHARGES for that???

Neil Gaiman weighs in with excellent points, and that article has statements that the manga doesn't even contain any visual representation of under-age people having sex.

ETA: I've been trying to watch this for ages: Adam Lambert singing 'Dancing Though Life'. I think I already linked it, but now I've actually seen it. His acting skills may leave something to desire, but that still leaves him two steps ahead of Millsy (who played Fiyero in the version of 'Wicked' that I saw.) I've been wanting to see someone competent do this song for a while, because it seems like it's a tough one to make interesting. Fiyero's hopelessly underwritten. I wish I could've seen Adam in the role, though, he wipes the floor with Millsy.

ETA2: OMG Idiiiina. She's the ultimate Elphaba. Though having said that, I haven't seen a single video of anyone doing any justice to Glinda at all except Kristin Chenoweth, it's like she was born to play her.

ETA3: IDINA AND KRISTIN DOING 'FOR GOOD' OMG. IF THIS DOESN'T KILL YOU DEAD YOU HAVE NO SOUL. I think I'll go watch some Pushing Daisies. Also, I just remembered that I discovered Wicked via this women of Firefly video back in the day. Which means I have Joss to thank for my love of Veronica Mars, Battlestar Galactica, AND Wicked, along with all his stuff...uh, yeah.

Well, they're not arresting the people who made them (I mean, obviously, they're JAPANESE and FICTION!), and he's not selling them to underage kids, and they're not even pornographic material. Ugh ugh ugh. It just makes me feel sick.

So I am going through YouTube finding Wicked clips to cheer myself up.

Idina will always be my favorite Elphaba, but I saw Shoshanna Bean do it live and she was very good as well. The two women I've seen play Glinda could not do it justice - part of the reason is that some of the songs were written specifically with Kristin's voice in mind.

I've only seen it once live, but the girl playing Glinda definitely impersonated Kristin not just in the songs, but throughout the play. It was irritating. Also, I think Kristin had a better handle on the character than everyone else I've seen play her - Kristin has a natural mix of sweetness and sharpness that suits her so well as both Olive and Glinda, whereas others kind of have to force it and come off not so well.
