Naturally, as he is a Genius, Chekov's calculations were perfectly correct. Sulu and Chekov have managed to beam down to the planet, shaving 2.1 seconds off normal beaming time!
Chekov is just thinking about how this will effect the scientific community when Sulu notices something: their arrival has not gone unnoticed. They had chosen a location miles from civilisation, and had conducted their experiment in the middle of the night, but they've been seen!
For a moment, the two groups are too surprised to move. They just stand there staring at each other, unsure of how to proceed.
Unfortunately, before Chekov and Sulu can figure out what to do, the aliens take their silence as a sign of disrespect and become enraged. Chekov is surprised and apologetic, but Sulu just gets mad.
Aliens: YOU WILL BE PUNISHED FOR YOUR INSOLENCE!
Chekov and Sulu: *cannot understand, as the aliens are speaking an alien language*
Chekov and Sulu are taken to a 'holding cell' on the desert planet, where they are told they will remain until the aliens figure out if they are edible. Chekov and Sulu are understandably angry and confused, as they still cannot understand the alien language. Sulu is worried that he has lost any chance of a promotion by going along with Chekov's crazy scheme.
The emnity grows between the two parties as Sulu chucks a hissy fit and Chekov starts to get angry himself.
Fortunately, once they are left alone Chekov and Sulu realise that their 'cell' has a big screen alien TV (with grass growing in it) and comfy lizard-skin couches, and are perfectly happy.
