Kirk's feeling annoyed about the disastrous first meeting with the aliens, about whom they still know next to nothing, and about the fact that he still doesn't know what happened to Chekov and Sulu.

That is, until the aliens appear on the view screen. With Uhura translating, they discover that the aliens want to talk to Kirk.

They inform Kirk that they think Sulu and Chekov are in a vast desert that lies on the far side of the planet, and that the entire bridge crew should fan out and search for them. Spock realises that it's a trap. Kirk promptly ignores Spock's advice.
Spock: Captain, it is most illogical...
Kirk: I'M CAPTAIN KIRK!

So Kirk has the entire bridge team beam down to the surface to investigate.

Uhura starts to run around the planet, worriedly looking for Chekov and Sulu. Most of the others are looking around, realising this is probably a waste of time.

Meanwhile, back on the bridge, the alien queen and her brother have decided to do some...redecorating. They had a whole bunch of sand beamed into the bridge!

The bridge team, blissfully unaware, are enjoying a leisurely stroll through the desert, discovering new plants and fascinating rock formations.

The queen makes herself at home in the captain's chair...

...then messes with the computer system while her brother tries the chair on for size.

All members of the away team have finally realised that searching the desert was a fruitless endeavour, so they beam back to the Simterprise.

Kirk is shocked and disturbed to discover that his bridge is covered in sand! Also, he's pretty sure someone's been sitting in his chair.

Uhura is equally distressed to find that the desert planet seems to have relocated in to her nice, clean bridge.

Bones is generally cranky, and wondering why they beamed away in the first place.

Spock is struggling not to say "I told you so", as it would be childish and most illogical.

Meanwhile, the guard has brought Chekov and Sulu their dinner. She spent hours studying their physiology and figuring out which native foods would be least offensive to their palettes: waffles and salad.
