The aliens are trying to make contact again. When Spock goes to the view screen to talk to them, the prince is so angry he turns his back. The queen tells Spock they won't speak to him.

They are, however, willing to talk to Uhura, the only person who can begin to understand their language, if she beams down to the planet. At this point, as Uhura is the only ranking officer who hasn't royally pissed off the aristocracy, Kirk agrees to allow her to go, as long as she takes someone who can handle themselves in a fight.

Uhura knows exactly who to take as her protection.

Uhura, with her temporary bodyguards Miranda and Kelly, are beamed down to the planet. Uhura is not thrilled about having to go back planet side.

Unfortunately, the negotiations start badly. The aliens had specified that they wanted only Uhura to come, and are angry to see the navigation officers with her.

The male guard starts a fight with Miranda, but he doesn't know what he's getting himself into.

She kicks his ass, using her advanced knowledge of kung fu!

In retaliation for the attack on her sister, Kelly joins the fight, ninja-leaping into the fray.

She fights the female guard, but the alien is no match for Kelly's mad ninja skillz.

Now both of the officers have beaten the royal pain in the ass's security into submission.

Fortunately, it turns out that the aliens respect a show of strength. They gain a newfound respect for Uhura for having such strong and able warriors at her side, and finally peaceful negotiations begin. They reveal that the planet is called Saroya, and the Saroyen aliens only leave their sand homes at night, because it's too hot during the day.

The prince explains that, although they hunt and kill the abundant lizards on the planet for food and clothing, they regard a good steak as a rare delicacy, and want to know if Uhura will trade good meat for her crewmates.

Uhura agrees to the trade, knowing that the Simterprise has an overabundance of meat on board at the moment. There is a growing number of vegetarians on the ship thanks to Bones's latest public service anouncement about the health risks of eating alien meat. The negotiations are finally successful!

Meanwhile, Sulu and Chekov are making friends with their guard, who is still Inappropriate but a lot more Friendly and less Insane than her fellow Saroyens. Sulu compliments her on her physical strength, and asks how she keeps in shape.

Lasruterupahe gives him a detailed rundown of her training schedule, which mostly involves lifting weights and serving the rather demanding queen. She also tells them that the food she prepared is extremely healthy, and rather tasty as she's a Natural Cook, a talent she has long wanted to show the world. Unfortunately for Lasruterupahe, she only ever gets to cook for ravenous prisoners who don't appreciate her talent.

When the guard leaves them, Chekov and Sulu settle down to a delicious and healthy meal together.
