[livejournal.com profile] zombres gave me 1. JOSSVERSE.

I usually feel like a bit of a liar when I call myself a Jossverse fan, because for the most part I don't really like Angel. Only...2 and a bit seasons, plus the odd episode or scene. I think it says something about the depth of my Jossverse fandom that in spite of that fact, and only having seen most Angel episodes once, I am still rather ridiculously knowledgeable about Angel - less so, perhaps, than Buffy, which seems to be stored unfettered in my brain, but I know it pretty well nonetheless. Joss's work is my oldest fandom, and I love that it is continuing now in Dollhouse and Dr. Horrible - he continues to excite, entertain and intrigue me, and I love him for it. I kind of love that the Whedon family is becoming more involved in this 'verse as a whole.

Also, Firefly is, in my opinion, the highest quality TV series ever made. Doesn't hurt that there's so few episodes, in that regard - they are SO good, all of them. Even Train Job.

2. Chris Fiiiiine and his dazzling rainbow!

HE IS SO PRETTY. I first came across Chris Pine in Smokin' Aces - I knew he had been cast in Star Trek, and had seen those stunning black & white Trek posters, but that was about the extent of my Chris Pine knowledge before then. I was immediately hooked. I knew, in his first scene, that he was something special. Then I realised he was in Bottle Shock, which I had downloaded for Alan Rickman and Eliza Dushku, so I decided to watch that. In both those movies he plays (not entirely successfully) against his looks, but he was still really talented. He has that star quality, you know? Also, he's really fucking hot. Like, REALLY fucking hot, with those blue eyes and that sexy smile and that unf body. GUH. CHRIS PINE.

3. DOM

I really don't know what I can say about Dom that I haven't already said about a million times in this journal. Except that he looked VERY nice at Comic-con with his waistcoat and such, and I can't wait to see him regularly on TV again in 'Flash Forward'. He's my favourite. That's all there is to it.

4. Gay rights, fighting the good fight!

I started out writing about homophobia for my high school newspaper, which is I suppose to first gay rights stand I took. Last year I organised some rallies, but since then I haven't done much of anything except voice my views as loudly and often as possible. I don't understand how, as an advanced society, we can continue to deny a minority equal rights. Add to that the fact that I'm just a tiny bit of a fag hag, so most of my friends are gay, and it's no wonder I fight for gay rights. I don't know why other people don't. It's appalling that a fight for gay rights still exists, because it means that the gay rights themselves aren't being granted.

5. Starship Simterprise!

The Simterprise is really more [livejournal.com profile] baldie_troll's baby than mine. We first made it in order to try to win a computer, but we didn't have enough time to build the followers we needed to be most popular, and for some reason the judges decided ours wasn't the most creative entry. It took a lot of effort but making the Simterprise was a good outlet for our Star Trek mania, and some of it was LOADS of fun.

Also, fun fact: in my head, the Saroyans have a very strict language structure, and their culture is very strictly hierarchical and highly militant. Yes, I have a back story for my Sim aliens.

I know what MMMORPG stands for, but every time, I start to read it as "Mighty Morphin' ... " and then have to correct myself!

i just watched bottle shock the other day and c.pine was amaaazing. he broke my wee heart. but you're right, i think i would have believed the look a little better if it wasn't for, oh, THAT WIG. i wound up staring at it in horrified wonder for most of his scenes. WHY.

Mmmmmmmm, CHRIS. AND DOM. AND JOSS. AND TREK.

And it also continues to boggle my mind that the "free" world refuses to extend equal rights to homosexuals. UGH.

LOL. I have this whole cultural thing worked out in my head, about how names change the higher they are in the military ranks in the society (the females' names get shorter and the males have different sounds based on the honour they're afforded), and how the society works as an oligarchy and everything. For a planet on which we spent about 15 screenshots.

Luckily Lasruterupahe stuck around so I might be able to explore it further. Jamie still doesn't know her name :P
