According to the conspiracy-theorist types I met a few weeks ago: environmental disaster resulting from the reversing of the magnetic poles, and as predicted by the Mayan calendar thing (although for some reason they're expecting the disaster in August 2012 rather than December). Oh, and also a quick fly-by from a second sun that astronomers either don't know about or have been hiding from us, with the result that only these conspiracy theorists knew about it. That was an interesting 4 days.
According to the more down-to-earth guy I met immediately after them, it'll be an Ice Age which may have been avoidable if we'd taken environmental action in the 70s. He's expecting it somewhere between 2012 and 2016. Come up north to the tropics while you still can! :P
As for me, I choose ZOMBIES, but only because I devised a 10-step survival plan while bored out of my mind working at a roadhouse in the Northern Territory. Beer-crate barricades FTW!
Environmental disaster is the most likely, but I just don't trust those damn robots. Especially not the music-playing ones. They give me the heeby jeebies.
