SUPERNATURAL FACEBOOK RECAP OF AWESOME. Which reminds me...ANOTHER EVIL LITTLE GIRL? REALLY? I am so sick of this trope. Seriously.

'Dollhouse' recap: Momma's got a brand new bag of crazy. I...disagree.
I actually liked this episode a fair bit, even though it was yet another Echo-centric engagement episode and not one of the kick-ass ones we know and love from the end of last season. The idea of Echo as the monster in the dark and stormy night really appealed to me - kind of a Frankenstein's monster, afraid and child-like but with power she doesn't know she has. Also, the fact that she escaped out the window with a baby and fooled Ballard impressed me. The Topher stuff is always interesting - he doesn't mean to do harm, but he does so much harm and then doesn't see the emotional repercussions. Nice to see Miracle Laurie again, her scenes were great. Ballard didn't annoy me like he's been doing lately, and I just love seeing Alexis again (I'm kinda hoping now that his special lady friend is NOT a doll, because she's acting way too doll-like.) I do hope we get to see more Dollhouse inner workings, though.
On the lady-parts-made-her-crazy bit: a woman's body reacts really strongly to the changes that happen when you have a baby. A lot of the time it's a protection thing, part of nature. It's not her lady parts that made her crazy, it's thinking she had a baby. Clearly the solution is clear: don't have babies.
Okay, this obviously isn't my point of view, but I'm trying to point out how the EW article might be making a feminist issue out of something that I'm not sure is. Also, I gotta tell you, she was pretty kickass - she escaped, beat people up, and figured out how to drive on her own just to try to get to that kid. Echo's 'composite' problem had at least as much to do with this as the mother thing, as well. And finally, can we keep in mind that she didn't actually hurt anyone (even though she probably felt the fear from the guy who she thought was trying to kill her)?
Well, I finally started warming to a couple of the character. Joseph Fiennes is as much of a wet blanket as Jack, but FBI Dude Vance cracked me up in this episode, so that's something. Also there's Jack Davenport being all Jack Davenport-y. I'm kinda wishing John Cho's character would start having a bit more...character, so I could justify adoring him. I can't tell you how overjoyed I was when I heard they'd be taking a shot at portraying a kid with autism on a weekly show. Let's see how that goes. I still don't think this is a good show, but at least that episode was more enjoyable than the first.
Here's my thing. You see the future, and you don't like it. What's the first thing you do? I know...MAKE IT START TO COME TRUE! If it were me, I honestly think that I would've grabbed a green pen instead of a red one, or done the board up differently, or done SOMETHING that changed my vision even subtly. I mean, John Cho knows the day he's going to die, so surely he should avoid murderers that day? I'm sick of predeterminism in these shows, because they're all self-fulfilling prophecies - if they hadn't seen the vision, they wouldn't have started the vision and so on. It's sort of the opposite of my stance on time travel, which may make me seem hypocritical, but I just don't see why the future has to be so set in stone when all Voldy's brother needed to do to change his vision was grab a different pen. I will, of course, keep watching for Dom and John Cho. It's just frustrating.

I would pay to see that movie, too.
I liked Dollhouse this week, too. I think Eliza is a pretty good actress, I don't get the hate. I do love the other Actives, as well. Especially Victor and Sierra (good to see Mellie/November/Madeleine again, too). And it looks like we're getting more Victor and Sierra. So that's awesome. Yeah, Echo remembers the feelings, that's what she said. So to feel that kinda fear would be pretty frickin' stressful. And she drove for that baby. Seriously. I hate it when all the clients get mad at the Actives for being fakes and it's like they aren't roleplaying here! They truly believe they are who they are! That always gets ne, because Adelle explains it will be a true experience for them, the client, as much as it is for the Active. That's a tiny little thing, though.
I actually really like FlashForward and I like most of the characters. Haha that scene with Wedeck. I WAS HAVING A BOWEL MOVEMENT. I was laughing so hard my sister was in the same room and she's like WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING AT? SHUT UP! Anyway, I like them all mostly except that new lady, she totally looks like Joan Rivers 2.0 and that jilts me a little! But anyway, with the prophecy stuff, I think the major pieces will be laid out like what we saw in the visions for some people, but for others, they actually do change their flashes. *shrugs* I mean, hey, Mark burned the friendship bracelet. Doesn't that change his vision? So unless Charlie makes him another one or something I'd be like 'Freaky child, stop freaking your father out!' but for now, maybe he is trying to change what he sees. Especially with him lying about drinking. He really doesn't want that to come true but I think him lying about it is going to be be what makes Olivia leave him and end up with Lloyd just like in the flash. And I think Demetri will make sure he can stay alive because Hi John Cho, ilu too! Now just get Dom to show up and I'll be even more pleased.

I have a whole rant somewhere about how Eliza is a good actress, but she isn't good for this show - she doesn't do the chameleon thing, where she seems like a totally different person in each role. Dichen and Enver are both just AMAZING at that, so Eliza pales in comparison, but they don't have her charisma or strength of personality, which is what gets people to love her. I thought she did pretty well in this episode, too.
Aww, but the guy in this one turned around on it and ended up getting it. He was just scared. It must be a hard thing to believe, you know>
The kid'll just make him another bracelet. Trust me, if he wore that one for six months it'd be ugly and shabby - I've been wearing one for three and it's a mess (but it won't bloody well FALL OFF ALREADY, AUGH.) I still don't think the show's that great overall. I just don't care, even though I go into every show wanting very much to care.
I need to get to know the characters' names, obviously.

Otherwise, why not just quit work and enjoy what life you have left? Or drink/drug yourself into oblivion?
I like the show and I think its going to improve. I just wish they'd get Dom on the show before its too late and they lose crucial audience.

SO MUCH WORD to your self-fulfilling prophecy frustration. I agree entirely. All of the characters, especially Mark, are falling into the trap of making their visions come true. I kind of have to wonder if that was the entire point of the blackout in the first place - that the people behind the blackout intended for everyone to make their visions self-fulfilling. DUN DUN DUN crazy conspiracy theory.

DITTO. I'll adore him anyway, but I'll feel...whatever, I'll adore him.
I don't care for Joseph Fiennes' character because I feel as if he's driving the "WE'RE ALL DOOMED" logic the furthest. I also feel like the show is moving to fast. They could've spent half the first season with people making random connections with whatever they saw and also dealing with the fallout from the blackout. Instead everything is moving to fast.
Still, I love John Cho a ridiculous amount and will stick around for him.
