TWO REQUESTS to get this party started:
1. Does anyone have the Rent soundtrack that they might consider uploading for my sister?
2. Does anyone know where I can pimp The Hub convention? LiveJournal, websites, anything connected with Angel, Veronica Mars or Dead Like Me. Anything.

SO EXCITED ABOUT MUHNEY.

Idol: Love Holly, like Brianna and Rosie Ribbons (the latter just for the name, I think.) Perfectly happy with who went through from last night.

Just so everyone knows, my new favourite icon makers is [livejournal.com profile] seewhoiam @ [livejournal.com profile] oblivion_ic. Really, wow. Lots of pretties in fandoms I like! There's also some VERY pretty icons over here from Supernatural, Torchwood, all kinds of cool things.

Apparently, gay unions were sanctioned in medieval Europe. How awesome is that?

FULL SUPERNATURAL SEASON 2 GAG REEL. I found it while coding and FLIPPED THE FUCK OUT. It's AWESOME. They have the best gag reels ever.

There's a great Supernatural trivia contest for awesome prizes over here that I just spent almost an hour and a half on. Did anyone know Morena Baccarin and Jensen Ackles worked on an unaired show called Still Life together?

[livejournal.com profile] immorallily made a great boytouching spam.

Guess what's coming back on September 6th/September 7th for Aussies? LOST RADIO! Yaaay.

Gerard Way singing Umbrella because he's awesome like that :D

Wentworth Miller chillin' with Luke McFarlane, ex-boyfriend of T.R. Knight.

Pictures of the Heroes cast in Tokyo thanks to [livejournal.com profile] txvoodoo. There's stacks of world tour stuff EVERYWHERE, so you should be able to find what you're looking for on LJ.

Today I saw 15

This is a frenetic, MTV-influenced film about disenfranchised teenage boys in Singapore. I have to get a few things out of my system about these 'MTV generation' films before I actually review the movie.

This film style, the confrontational, fast-paced, brightly-coloured and music-based film style that so many directors employ when making films about youth, work so well for me because they capture what youth is like. The Dumbledore quote 'age is foolish and forgetful when it underestimates youth' is what comes to mind whenever I read reviews of movies that bemoan that form of pace and style. I think part of why I'm so interested in the style is Romeo + Juliet (which interestingly has a similar rating to 15 on IMDb.) That came out right at the start of my teenage years and it really captured a certain feeling, though I wasn't able to analyse that until I was much older (I just thought it was awesome and the soundtrack was cool.) Short attention spans and those extremes of emotions, the highs where you're singing and screaming and there's nothing but colours and whirring energy vs. the equally unreal lows where you can barely move and it's like you're underwater - when you're older it's probably manic depression but that IS being a teenager. The heightened, dizzying way everything looks and sounds in movies like these two represents the heightened feelings of being a teenager, when you're just discovering the world for good and bad, and you're so self-centered you think nobody else in the world feels the way you do (if they feel anything.) Films like these capture that perfectly and I love it.

I found 15 really interesting (and not just for the homoerotic not-really-undertones running through it.) It might just be my cultural background, but I felt quite connected to the kids in the movie. There's a lot of dark humour that offsets the harder stuff and it's pretty unflinching. The boys in this movie don't have much of an emotional attachment to anything but each other, and there's a real sense of despair that permeates the film. One section where three of the boys try to find the perfect building for one of them to commit suicide from is the best mix of that despair and the humour, and the interesting techniques. These are tattooed and pierced gang kids, but they're real teenage boys underneath, looking for a connection. I think the kids were great, too.

Which "Rent"? Original Broadway Cast or Motion Picture Soundtrack?

Crap. I don't have either of them on the computer here at work. If no one else is able to upload it for you, I'll do it when I get home from work tonight. It's 9:43am here right now though, so it will be hours and hours.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

That's cool, I can't download it until tomorrow night after midnight anyway so I'm in no rush!

I've uploaded the full motion picture soundtrack to Megaupload here (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=02W3ZZSO). Enjoy!

I just zipped up a copy and I'm loading it up to sendspace now. This one is "Highlights from the Motion Picture" so if you have the full soundtrack, maybe she'd like that better.

Oh, man. I just deleted the Rent soundtrack because I only liked one song. :(

Thanks for the links to the icons and boytouching OMG.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

I kinda only like two songs. My sister loves it though.

I see many, many icons from that gag reel.

Namely the always ending up on all fours thing.

I LOVED the SPN gag reel!

I actually have the pilot of Still Life. If you're interested in seeing it I could upload it.

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

I don't know, I've heard it deserved it cancellation. I just liked the connection :)

From: [identity profile] superfrayed.livejournal.com

to be honest, I've never been able to make it through the entire ep, the cancellation was deserved!

From: [identity profile] quillons.livejournal.com

I only have the original broadway soundtrack for Rent. I know you said OST for the movie but if she changes her mind let me know.
:)
Very cool on the muhney news for you!!

From: [identity profile] trishpip.livejournal.com

I'll trade you the Movie Soundtrack for the OBC. The only OBC I've been able to get my hands on so far was too scratched up to bother with burning.

From: [identity profile] quillons.livejournal.com

There are two:
one (http://www.sendspace.com/file/1qvhkg)

two (http://www.sendspace.com/file/uoa7ml)
:)
If there are problems let me know...;)

Did anyone know Morena Baccarin and Jensen Ackles worked on an unaired show called Still Life together?

I knew this and got the show off torrents. Interesting concept. Not well executed. If I can find the file I'll upload for you.

I'm looking around for places to post about the con, too. I'm trying to figure out the best way to do it, also - randomly post? find clips? I'm sure there must be lamb-vids on youtube... hrm!

we have been contracted as the spreaders of the muhney-love, we must succeed!!!

Team Muhney ftw!

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Well I'll put something up at the Bronze, but I figure everyone there who's around will know. I should go looking for Angel and Dead Like Me communities too. I'm thinking of hitting up websites, but since I have nothing to give back it's hard to think of a reason for them to link for us...

From: [identity profile] natatree.livejournal.com

Have you bought your ticket for the con yet? If so what ticket did you buy? I think I've convinced Adam to let me just get a basic day pass. YAY! SO EXCITED!

From: [identity profile] green-queen.livejournal.com

Are you kidding me? Noooo. I'm going to have to save until like the week before to afford my ticket. I'm getting the VIP one. I will afford it though, and Carissa has one for me :D
