So, to have a bit of a rant about the most recent episode of Supernatural. As Kripke said before it aired, a lot of people loved it, a lot hated it. It didn't rate very well. Even if I hadn't loved it (and I did like it a lot, the style of it wasn't the thing that bugged me, and even that I'm still processing.) We're pretty much guaranteed a next season at this point, which means that they had liscence to do something experimental and different and see where it took them. Shows should have the freedom to not do so well some weeks in order to try new things, otherwise it gets stale and boring. I mean, how much apprehension was there when Joss wanted to do a musical episode of Buffy? Not that Ghostfacers was on anywhere near on that level, but I'd rather have a dip in ratings one week to a boring, stale show with nothing new to offer.

More info on Nathan's pilot 'Castle'. I'm not overly thrilled at the concept, but hey, Fillion is Fillion.

Very pretty Jossverse & BSG icons.

Uh, fandom is kinda dead today.

I'm pretty sure this image MADE MY LIFE COMPLETE.

Absolute agreement on Supernatural. I really liked it, but even if I hadn't, I'd absolutely rather watch a show that experiments and sometimes fails than one that always plays it safe.

I don't watch SPN but I agree with you, I like shows that take risks!

I'm not thrilled about Nathan's new show either... except that it's starring well, him

I loved it. I absolutely loved it. It seems to me that most people who are hating it are firmly stuck in the "ZOMG THAR WUZ KNOE JENSEN OR JARED AND THEY R SOOOOO FOINNNNNNEEE" camp.

Guess what? You CAN have an episode that is light on the main stars and it can still be a good episode! "Blink" was one of the best Who episodes and David and Freema are barely in it at all.

I always loved the non-arc episodes of shows like this. X-Files' "Jose Chung's From Outer Space," and "Tall Tales" from SPN last season, and that episode where Andrew is telling the story from the last season of Buffy were GREAT episodes that were funny and different.

To be honest, I did feel like Supernatural was getting pretty one-note this season. I loved all the interesting camerawork, the different look and the challenging stories it was prepared to tell in the past, and this season with the bright colours and unrelenting angst and trudging through the Dean-death story it's felt plodding. I think this was fresh and different.

TOTALLY agreed on the thing about the characters, too. Sam and Dean are in every scene of every episode, nearly. Are the fans suggesting the show can't survive a few scenes without them??

Some people didn't find it funny, and that's their perogative. At least it's a good reason.
