Stack of Dom news:

Dom hosted the Fidelity Future Sound event with Jamie Foxx and there are pictures.
He's also talked about that kid film contest he's involved in.
'FlashForward' lost its original showrunners and gained crappy ones.

I've been rewatching 'Pushing Daisies' and 1.09 'Corpsicle' breaks my heart. It's filled with little boys who are broken and have horrible things happen to them they can't do anything about. Abner makes my heart bleed. 'Bitter Sweets' is an AWESOME episode.

AWESOME British 'Supernatural' advertisement.

GO BUY 'JEARS' MERCH!

Ellen vs. Misha for world domination! LOL. I think both of them need to get in line behind Mark Sheppard (spoilers for 'Supernatural' and 'Chuck'....although I suppose that's already spoiling you, really.) He's just chalked up one more of my favourite shows.

Michael Muhney talks soap actresses. Don't care about the actresses.

David Krumholtz has a new pilot.

I don't agree, but gorgeous: top 5 Pixar movies.
IS THIS THE MOST BAMF PICSPAM EVER? It's basically an ENTIRE PICSPAM just of Sulu kicking Romulan ass and falling in Kirk's arms. IT IS AWESOME. ALSO IT HAS SALA BAKER.

There are AWESOME Dollhouse icons here and here (along with other fandoms). Also, some nice multi-fandom ones and AWESOMESAUCE fandoms.

1. Birdhouse in Your Soul by Kristin Chenoweth and Ellen Greene.

2. I don't get Sheldon/Penny. At all. How is this so popular? Is it just because Sheldon's the most interesting character and Penny's pretty much the only girl? (Which, hell, Leslie/Sheldon makes more sense to me and they hate each other.)

The rules:

1. Post about something that made you happy today.
2. Repeat for eight days.

I watched the almost-last two episodes of 'Pushing Daisies'. When I watch Pushing Daisies I'm like one of those cartoons with hearts in eyes and chin in hands. Anyone who fails to be happy while watching 'Pushing Daisies' must have a very sad life indeed. It's the sweetest, prettiest show with the lightest touch and the fact that it was cancelled kind of cancels out the happy effect, but still. Just one more to go *sobs* Spoilers for 2.11 and 2.12 )

Thoughts on Dollhouse 1.09 'A Spy in the House of Love' )

Save One Show. I'm sad that Chuck is apparently failing, as I do rather love it, but obviously I'm rooting for Dollhouse here.

Tim Minear talks about the ubiquitous 'Epitaph One'. Poor Felicia probably got in a shitload of trouble for that one.

The 'Dollhouse' situation and what Whedon should do next.

Joss Whedon Accepts Award, Drops Dollhouse Hints, Names Winner Of Buffy/River Fight. He seems very pessimistic about the show's chances of being picked up again, but that seems to just be conjecture. It makes me sad. Other things in there make me much less sad.

This Dollhouse poll interested me - I haven't been keeping up with the show's reception online, as I was annoyed with all the negativity surrounding it and I watch and debrief with Jamie generally, so I was surprised to see who is liked and who isn't.

DO WANT. DO WANT RIGHT NOW. 'Curse your sudden but inveitable betrayal' t-shirt!!! FOR THE WIN.

New Zealand interview of Zachary Quinto and my boy Chris Pine, who discusses his mancrushes and makes me love him more than I already do, which is a lot. I'm still pretty sure ZQ is gay.

Common Rotation & John DiMaggio cover M.I.A.'s Paper Planes.

ABC to air the last few eps of Pushing Daisies in graveyard shift as filler. Rat bastard jerk asshats.

LJ business dramas are afoot.

Answers to that favourite character meme I did! I have a feeling it tends to be easy to guess mine, most of the time.

1. Lost - Charlie Pace. Uh, because he's Dom, but also because he's sweet and he sacrificed himself to save everybody. I love Faraday too.
2. Firefly - Zoe. She is by far the single most kick-ass woman on TV, ever, which is at least partly because she doesn't have to talk about how kick-ass she is. She just gets it done.
3. Pushing Daisies - Olive. I love pretty much all the main characters, but Olive owns me every time she appears. She's a total firebrand.
4. Supernatural - Dean Winchester. Um. Duh.
5. Chuck - Captain Awesome. Okay, I know he's barely a character, and everybody else is cool and they all get more to do but HIS NAME IS CAPTAIN AWESOME. And EVERYTHING he does is awesome. When his girlfriend went crazy, he was awesome. He's awesome about his girlfriend's brother living with them. When Chuck needed to learn the tango, he taught him half naked. And he's a doctor with enough money to lend tens of thousands of dollars to Chuck's friend as an investment because he cares. HE IS AWESOME.
6. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Tara. Tara has the weakest role physically of pretty much any of the Buffy girls, but she's got the strongest heart and mind (ironically, considering season 5) of any of them. She's kind of the centre.
7. Battlestar Galactica - Helo. He's like the Captain Awesome of Battlestar Galactica, only tortured, and unfortunately shirtless less often.
8. Torchwood - Ianto Jones. There's pretty much nothing I don't love about him. He makes out with Captain Jack, wears suits, and snarks endlessly. He's so contained that when he breaks it's killer.
9. Veronica Mars - Piz. I like Logan. I do. I just think Piz is about the sweetest, funniest, cutest thing ever. It seems my new type is ridiculously attractive, sweet guys. I'm screwed.
10. The Middleman - Noser. Noser just cracks my shit up, he's so laid-back and he never plays guitar. Puppet!Noser is hilarious.

These icons are really pretty.

I really wish Firefly had gotten a longer run, and it is by far the most unfairly cancelled TV show, but since I didn't discover it until after I saw Serenity and I didn't watch it week-to-week while it was on it doesn't seem fair to say that I missed it. I genuinely missed Veronica Mars after it was cancelled. Shows that don't get cancelled I miss less, because they got their full run and feel complete, but Buffy's end was like a shot to the heart.

But the truth is, I think, even though all the episodes haven't even finished airing yet, the show I miss most already is Pushing Daisies )

Hilarious fan-made movie poster anagrams.

8 Best Picture Oscar favourites this year. I want to see nearly all of them.

Why are there no openly gay leading men in Hollywood? Because nobody appreciates Neil Patrick Harris! This line, though:
This leads to a dynamic in which heterosexual actors such as Penn or Tom Hanks (in "Philadelphia") have no problems being believed as gay men—or murderers or mentally challenged characters—yet there's much doubt that an openly gay actor could be convincing carrying a romance with the opposite sex.
Yes. Good comparison, there. I'm sure that's really helping.

List of upcoming sci-fi sequels/remakes. I would really enjoy a Logan's Run remake, I think.

I officially hate everyone who got me watching Pushing Daisies by raving about it in the first place, because I am crushed! CRUSHED! by rumours (which appear to be foregone conclusions at this point) that it's cancelled. NOT FAIR. Don't give up, Americans! Participate in the mass mail-in! At least let them know we love the show.

Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] dekolette! My LiveJournal world would be a much sadder place without you.

So today, the highligh of my day was going to the fete at the school where I work at the after-school program. It was lots of fun, which was cut short because I had to go pick my sister up from work.

Ahh! No! Put it back the way it was! Nobody's looking at my userinfo to see how many comments I've made or how many tags I have, including me. Eurgh.

Okay, I had this post made up, but it can basically be summed up by the fact that Bryan Fuller might return to 'Heroes' because 'Pushing Daisies' might be cancelled, 'The Middleman' might be cancelled, 'Dollhouse' has been dumped on the death time slot of Friday nights at 9 pm, and Nathan Fillion's new show 'Castle' has had its order of episodes reduced. So, everything sucks.

In the last two days I've seen three chick flicks. Well, not so much chick flicks as movies about and for women...and at least one full-blown chick flick.

Equally exciting, NEW DOLLHOUSE TRAILER (in which they purposefully ignore Firefly as something Joss created, jerks.) It looks SO GOOD. So I am going to go rewatch it three million times. Also, Whedonesque response. I LOVE it, more than the first one - very ominous and beautiful. No Tahmoh, though.

Two bromance articles, appropriate considering the movie I saw yesterday: Television's hottest 'bromances' and 30 Burning Sci-Fi Bromances. One thing
Nightclub singer Willie Scott may have a handle on the good doc’s gonads, but it’s the plucky Shortie who captures his heart by uttering such nuggets of wisdom as “Hey, Dr. Jones, no time for love. We’ve got company”—albeit in an almost-parodic Chinese accent.
Uh, Vietnamese, actually. Because Ke is Vietnamese. And that was just how he talked. Also, the Lost entry is inaccurate.

Five Things I Love About 'Pushing Daisies' In General:

1. The characters. I really think that all of the main characters in this show (including the aunts, who do not get enough play) have something wonderful to offer, and I love all of them. Especially Ned and Olive, who are my favourites, Ned for his almost unbearable cuteness and Olive because she's so damn feisty. That woman is a tiny ball of energy - sometimes positive, sometimes vindictive or jealous, and sometimes lusty, but always energetic.

2. The fantasy elements to the show. Clearly these characters occupy an alternate universe where the colours are brighter and the pies are tastier and everything is just MORE than it is in the real world. This feeling is enhanced by the voiceover from narrator Jim Dale, the beautiful art design, and the light, tinkling score.

3. Its optimism. I mean, have you ever tried to describe 'Pushing Daisies' to a prospective viewer? Yeah, it's about this piemaker who can touch people and bring them back to life, but only for a minute or someone else will die. His girlfriend is one of those people, and he can never touch her or she'll die. The waitress in his pie shop is in unrequited love with him. The other major character is a private investigator who exploits the piemaker's talents for money, and every week is a murder mystery. Cheerful, right? Except that is is. It's about the sweetest, most optimistic show on television - in spite of the fact that they're dealing with death, deception and denial every week, most of the people they come across is fundamentally a good person.

4. Every episode, no matter its themes or subjects, leaves you feeling good. Even the cliffhangers. At the end of 'Pushing Daisies' going back to the real world feels a bit duller for the joy and beauty of that world, but it leaves you with a smile on your face. It's fun.

5. In spite of the aforementioned fairytale elements, 'Pushing Daisies' never does what you expect it to do. A cliffhanger on 'Pushing Daisies' isn't like a cliffhanger on another show, where they'll drag one secret out to last an entire season and never give their characters any communication skills. In this show, people talk. Secrets are revealed. Mysteries are solved. They never really reveal a secret the way you think they will, either, and often the road that revealed secret will lead you down is totally different to where you think it will lead.

Five Things I Love About This Season of 'Pushing Daisies':

1. Olive and Chuck's new BFF-dom, and them going undercover together. In both Frescorts and Dim Sum they've been adorable, and it's fun for the girls to get to work together. Olive in the nunnery got old fast (and was wisely kept fairly short), but watching her get back to her old self has been a delight.

2. Emerson Cod. In the first season Emerson served mostly as the bitter to everybody else's sweet, the sarcasm and pessimism to offset their unnerving optimism and cheerfulness. However, this season Emerson has really been coming into his own. The stuff about his daughter and mother gave us insight into him and we've gotten to see him be kind and generous as well as mercenary.

3. How is it that Ned just keeps getting cuter? Since I watched it pretty much all at once it can't have been extended absence that made Ned seem even more adorable in the first episode of the new season, and it's like he just ups the ante every week. The stuff with the twin brothers in the last episode? Don't even.

4. The clown car gag. Some people don't get it, and that's fine. I, on the other hand, fell off my chair from laughing so hard. I love the black humour dead-people gags on this show. They should be wrong, but they're hilarious.

5. I've sort of covered this already with point #2, but I like that they're moving this away from being The Ned and Chuck Show and really giving us more Emerson and Olive this season, even going so far as to have episodes opening with flashbacks to their childhood. I hope this expansion continues to give us more of the aunts, who are so interesting and funny.
